I watched heat rush up to the paleness of Vasilis's cheeks, flaming them scarlet.
He averted his gaze from mine as he scratched the back of his head, and I leaned forward to pull his chin back up, so I was looking directly into his eyes.
"Vasilis, look at me."
He did as I said, and now I was the one who couldn't stand the intensity of his attention.
My hand fell away from his chin, but he reached out to grab my wrist.
I swallowed hard, but maintained his gaze.
"Did you really travel across continents, just to drop off those letters for me?"
A heartbeat of silence. Then, "Yes."
My heart stopped.
"Mostly to make sure you were safe, but yeah, to drop off the letters too."
It felt like a series of fireworks had been set off inside the chambers of my heart.
