In the center of the crystal the silhouette of a silver woman with rainbow colored hair formed. She held a staff in her hands. The woman raised a hand as if she was greeting us before she dissipated.
Esy had fallen on her ass in shock. The overseer was slack jawed and the rest was frozen. We had all seen how it should look but that had been different.
The strange Ai-like voice sounded in the room
"Dominating Spirit affinity, absolute Lightning affinity, absolute Gravity affinity, high-level temperature affinity, mid-level Light affinity, mid-level Darkness affinity, mid-level Twilight affinity, low-level bonding affinity."
The overseer pulled his communication Amulet out of his pocket and called the Headmaster.
"Walter,-" the Headmaster began but was cut short.
"HELP" an instant later a tear formed in space and the Headmaster stood in the room.
"DO IT AGAIN!" The overseer shouted, his words left no room for discussion. Esy stood back up and put her hand back on the crystal.
The strange phenomenon occurred again, there was only one difference. The silver woman wasn't greeting them. This time a barely noticeable frown was visible on her forehead and her mouth moved as if she was asking a question. Esy's face paled a little as if she had understood what the woman had said.
The apparition dissipated again and the same list of affinities was listed by the AI-like voice again. After the voice finished the headmaster was pale.
"Eight affinities," the Headmaster's gaze wandered to the other people in the room. He saw his personal disciple, her face as pale as his own, but her eyes that glowed in an unprecedented color of pride.
The room was silent for a few seconds. I was astonished as well but I really wanted to know what I got so I walked up to the crystal and placed my hand on it. The crystal trembled and I found myself somewhere else.
I was in a place of endless darkness. I saw a throne built out of skulls and bones covered in blood. On this throne sat a shadowy creature. As my focus landed on the shadowy creature its eyes opened. Two blazing dots of golden flames formed the iris, the rest of its eyes were white which formed a stark contrast to the rest of the black figure.
The next instant chains of golden light enveloped the creature while a Sun and a Moon rose around him. Revolting around him as if he was the center of existence.
Two swords seemingly made out of pure sunfire rose out of the Sun while two scythes detached themself from the moon. The weapons revolted three times around the creature and attached themself to it. the swords burned themself into its hands, forming another spot of light in the black mass. The scythes vanished as they sunk into the creatures back.
The happy smile that appeared on the creature's face, and revealed two rows of razor sharp teeth was the last thing I saw before my vision changed again. Now I saw myself from the viewpoint of the creature. I saw my true self, the tall and handsome man I was, had been replaced with a tall and majestic person. My wings were at full display and my skin was several shades darker than usual.
I could feel the power that was rightfully mine. I felt my natural superiority over everyone and anything. The humanity, or the part that made me care about others, shrank down.
To explain it to you, Hilda had nurtured and raised me, she was a saint. Her unconditional goodness had sparked a fire inside of me that grew into a tall bonfire. So big that it was able to keep everyone of the 1000 kids that joined my faction warm and illuminated.
This bonfire shrunk to the size of a medium / large campfire. The flames also had turned into a much harsher color. Besides Esy Hilda and Jasmine only a few people had the privilege to get illuminated by the flames.
From the boys, Bjorn, James, Zulu, Samuel, Niklas, and Hebert, from the girls Sophie, Melissa, Tessa, May, Lucy and Sabrina and lastly the Lightning brothers but only barely. The rest became more or less irrelevant to me. I would have defended them with my life, now they became rarely irrelevant.
By the time I came to my senses I saw the black shadowy figure on its trone staring at me from within the crystal ball. A sun and a Moon revolted around him as if he was the center of existence. The piercing golden flames that were his eyes illuminated the crystal.
An unnatural chill filled the room, the crystal cleared and became natural again. The chill faded and the AI-like voice resounded in the test room.
"Dominating Death affinity, Error of Sun, Error of Moon, Error of Twilight, Absolute error of error. Affinities can not be read. Error affinity can not be found. Error affinity is unknown. Error affinity is unique. Please consult higher authority. Subject is not Human. Error! Race unknown."
Silence!
The room stopped shaking like it was the epicenter of an earthquake.
Silence!
The room was so silent that you could hear a pin drop. It would have shattered the silence like an explosion. This silence held for a few moments.
"What!"
"What!"
"WHAT!" The Headmaster shouted three times in a row. after what felt like an eternity.
It pulled everyone out of their respective trance.
"What are you? Both of you? How is this possible? How come I have never heard of dominating affinities before?" The Headmaster had completely lost his composure.
"We should ask you that Question!" I replied to his questions, "how is it possible for you to not know what dominating affinities are? It's not like you have been the Headmaster of the academy since yesterday. Concerning the fact that you can't read my affinities nor my race is another matter entirely."
The Headmaster who was about to rage on me again was stopped by Jasmine who spoke in a much more diplomatic tone: "Master, his words might be ill chosen, but he is nonetheless correct. It is not his fault nor my sister's fault that they have affinities that are unprecedented to your knowledge. The fact that Thorus is not human is confusing but also not something we could have known beforehand. It's not like he has wing's, horn's, scales or a tail."
The headmaster calmed down slightly at these words. He was still fuming with rage but he at least stopped directing it at me.
He took out his communication amulet and called the King of the Hesmaton kingdom.
"Archibald, my old friend, how is it going? It's rare to receive a call from you these days." The nonchalant voice sounded in the room. A projection of a middle-aged man on a desk appeared above the amulet. The man frowned as he looked at the Headmaster. "What happened? You look like someone killed your family."
"Asgorn, I will only ask you once. What are dominating level affinities?" The headmaster's voice was a low growling.
The King's eyes narrowed as he listened to the headmaster, his facial expression moved from nonchalant and friendly to a serious one. "Are you alone?"
"NO! I stand in the testing room with two youngsters that both have dominating affinities. A girl from the Silverton Family with dominating Spirit affinity, absolute Lightning affinity, absolute Gravity affinity, high-level temperature affinity, mid-level Light affinity, mid-level Darkness affinity, mid-level Twilight affinity, and low-level bonding affinity. The second one is a young boy who has dominating death affinity and several unreadable affinities among them are Error of Sun, Error of Moon and Error of Twilight."
The King's eyes widened in shock as he listened to the Headmaster.
"Did you say two dominating affinities? One for spirit and one for death?" the King's voice was a whisper.
"YES!" The headmaster yelled, "NOW ANSWER THE GODDAMN QUESTION!!"
"I can not do that, the knowledge of dominating level affinities is a state secret-"
"DO I LOOK LIKE I GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOUR STATE SECRETS!" The Headmaster's face was red and moved towards the color purple. "I KNOW AT LEAST HALF YOUR GODDAMN SECRETS! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO TEACH THEM WHEN I HAVE NO INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR CAPABILITIES!"
"STOP YELLING YOU OLD FOOL AND LET ME FINISH!" The King retorted back, "I can not tell you about them while other people are in the room. Call me back once you calmed down, and are in a secure environment, ALONE!" The King hung up on the Headmaster this next instant.
"BASTARD!" The headmaster yelled at his communication amulet while clenching his hand around it. "You better leave, I will contact you as soon As I know what to do with you until then, goodbye."
The Headmaster waved his hand, a tear in space opened up and he stomped through. The tear vanished after he passed and we were alone once again.
"I would also kindly advise you to leave until further notice from the Headmaster. I still have other participants to test today." the overseer kindly said to us.
We left the academy and walked down the street in the direction of home, as we walked past 'Freddy's Magical Wonderland' Jasmine stopped and said: "So now that we know you two have a magical affinity let's see if we find something for you from Freddy's."
'Freddy's Magical Wonderland' hadn't changed much since the first time I walked past it in the arms of Hilda 13 Years ago. It looked freshly renovated. Magic lanterns illuminated the storefront day and night. Last time there were four armored guards now there were eight. The halberts they carried had a magical aura and shimmered in the morning light.
They made no attempt to stop us from walking inside, they even held the door open for us. The inside of Freddy's Magical Wonderland was totally different from what I expected.
To be honest I expected floating display cases and bantering mages all over the place. It came to no surprise that the long hallway that was littered with doors disappointed me. Every door was labeled as, personal consultation room. The doors glowed either green or red indicating if they were occupied or not.
Before Jasmine could choose a room the door at the end of the Hallway opened. A tall and gentle looking middle-aged man with flaming red hair walked out of it. He bowed from far away and the space between them seemed to shrink until he stood just a step away from us.
"What an honor to have the two most beautiful women of the Hesmaton Kingdom in my shop today. Let me have the honor and consult you personally." This was Freddy, the owner of Freddy's Magical Wonderland.
"Freddy," Jasmine said, "It is great to see you today. We will gladly accept your counseling, you and your magical expertise might be needed today."
"Come on inside then. Let me show you our latest acquisitions." Freddys perfect business poker face showed no reaction to her flattery.
We crossed into Freddy's office with two steps and I could see the Hallway extend behind me as Freddy closed the door. His office was majestically decorated. At the far end was a giant table that had all kinds of documents stacked upon them. While the center of the room was occupied by a group of large couches that stood around a tea table.
"So What can I do for the lovely ladies and their companions?" Freddy looked at Mick and Rocky "I hope you haven't come here today to return the blades My son sold you."
"Senior Freddy, we would have asked for your son if that would have been the case but we don't have any intention of parting with these two masterpieces again. Today we are here for the youngsters. They just went through their Magic test with astonishing results so the lovely Jasmine had the idea of gifting them some trinkets." Mick explained while pointing at me and Esy.
"Take a seat please, It is much more comfortable to talk in a sitting position." We sat down on the couches around the tea table.
"What kind of trinkets do you have in mind?" Freddy asked Jasmine, after everyone made themself comfortable. He knew that the Ladies were the one with the decision power in this group.
