Both people felt so off. Sofia said dramatically
"What the fuck, is that your behavior after not seeing me for weeks now? or is it your father controlling you? "
Steve's mother was being so sarcastic but nearly telling half-truths.
"IRONIC mom!"
Steve said after clapping so loud.
Both mom and son burst out of laughter. Steve handed Sofya the rest of the cigarette and she smoked the Hell out of it
"Oh, I like this weed son. Good job choosing it. By the way, I want to show you something before getting high "
The mother went closer to her son, grabbed his hands the said dramatically "May I have this dance, sir? "
Steve answered "Oh god Am I the chosen one? What do you see in me?"
"Quiet a hard question but I'll tell. You are ....." They both pretended to drum the rolls before she added completely changing her voice in a funny manner "an-asshole".
They both giggled as she helped him stand up.
She took him to her balcony when he puffed "Oh God. Don't tell me we're here to admire the freaking sun"
"No, we're not. look carefully honey" Sofia said with her funny town accent.
Steve was confused for a moment then he just gasped "Holy sheet! you are growing marijuana now. That's cool, mom. oh Jesus " He whistled loud when she stopped him" Shut up you're exposing me"
He was about to grab one brud when she screamed
"Get your hands off my babies, they're not grown-ups yet. "
Steve stepped back and said doubtfully "What? How do you know?"
Like a little girl, she smiled and answered with high confidence "I'm the mistress in here remember?
Like I know my child I know them. See these pistils, when they turn red and curled I know my baby is ready to be harvested. But good news I have my store already "
"Oh, you've learned quite a lot mom. I guess if you stayed with dad, you would never have. "
Steve dropped his big stupid smile then added with a serious look on "Listen I'm proud of you mom and I'm sorry for not being supportive. I should have never got on your way. I was wrong and I should have never blamed you when the only matter was him not you. But believe me, now I know everything and which side I should be."
Sofya burst out of laughter, bit her lower lip, and said "Ooooowww, you know everything now! I'm glad you do. Your new mother, does she like you? Was she the reason you stayed away? Who's she again? "
Steve tried hard to hold his tears, but Sofya obviously didn't. She kept it in for long, She fell down on her knees, hearing the crack of her bones.
He approached her carefully and held her body tightly. What a nightmare was! The moment he tried to avoid breaks more than he thought.
The hopeless woman cried in her son's lap, once after many times.
He whispered in her ear "I can't call anyone " mom" but you. You are special mom.
You are my bestfriend you know that, right?
you're also my drink buddy and everything to me.
And my smile will be always just for you
Sophia raised her head and sobbed
"Really, am I your bff?"
"of course, Sofya and I love you so much, you mean the world to me "
"Ouch, even though I'm not cool, unlike you?"
"What are you saying mom, you're the coolest.
You know, we used to skate together paint the neighbor's walls and, we did silly things together more than I ever did with my friends. How students do you think would be smoking weed with their mothers?
My friends should be very jealous but I'm keeping you a mystery beyond everyone's thoughts. "
Sofya sighed with relief and giggled. She held him closer and breathed his smell in. So satisfying.
Time passed by and they still held each other too frustrated to let go.
Meanwhile, Elinor was standing on her balcony and heard the whole conversation. The woman was just on the other side of the wall. She was fascinated by the relationship between mother and son.
She wondered how many secrets can a family hold.
She laughed at herself, how ridiculous she is to think of having a family after destroying one by her own hands. She took some time to fix her hair and change her clothes then left the room.
She went downstairs, straight to the dining hall which had this long old table made of wood, some geriatric fancy chairs, it was old-fashioned but pretty. She held a plate then queued with a few people to get her coffee and a honey pie.
She grabbed a chair and sat down. She sighed when realizing that someone was copying her. But it was more like duplicating. It was Joe, sitting in front of her.
She groaned as his eyes met hers. He lifted his eyebrows in doubt
'Wasn't she so cool, like an hour ago? What happened to that girl then.? '.
Joe complained out loud "Girls are so moody and annoying. "
The residents were whispering like bees and discussing the young man's thought when El yelled
Like crazy.
"I'm having my fucking period so don't talk sheet about girls again. "
El stormed off so angry. She couldn't even bear her crumbs and headaches, how can she deal with men right now? She was in the open girls restroom, just washing her face, when Some ordinary dude followed her in.
She sort of grunted with her soft husky voice, which was so adorable.
"ugh, Why do you follow me everywhere? I hate you, man! "
"oh God, when did you come up there? "Joe exclaimed when he saw her laying on the long marble wash basin.
She chuckled stupidly and looped nonstop. He also laughed before noticing the beer bottle in her hands.
He ran to her anxiously.
"Let's go somewhere else. I can make you a better drink. How about that? "
Her eyebrows curled in a sad look. Elinor mumbled like a baby "But I like this place it's providing me the vibe I need"
"What vibe? "
"The one that tells me I'm a monster and everyone else is a cute baby. The voice in my head keeps saying I don't belong. That's the vibe I require. Sadness is what I need "
Joe knew exactly what she was talking about. Because only broken people understand, and he certainly was one. He jumped up next to her, snatched the beer, and drank it.
Soon after, he agreed and confirmed her
"I know how does it feel, when you're left in the dark but you don't really wanna come out. You become so used to the shadows that you almost hate the light. Like, if you want to survive, you have to hold the pain deep inside, because pain means you're strong, pain is the only thing that keeps you from falling into the same old mistake. "
"I know, it feels so safe to be sad. Like I'm all wrapped in a warm blanket. Don't even have to try because I already gave up"
Tears falling slowly, and head becoming heavy. Two bodies hugged in the wrong place. I mean it was a WOMEN restroom. He shouldn't be there in the first place. But they didn't care enough about people's thoughts since they were both drunk.
Women complaining and yelling and they just smile like dumb.
