The original 'Letter of Mourning and Chaos' written by Wang Xi Zhi had long vanished into the river of history; the version that exists today is a Tang Dynasty copy, which, along with "Two Thanks Letter" and 'Received Demonstration Letter', is connected to form a single piece of work.
It is a cursive script on stiff, yellow, resonant Xuan paper, with double-hooked outlining and filling, and the ink marks on the white hemp paper.
Li Shi had meticulously studied this collection piece when he first learned calligraphy.
Back then, he lacked the strength and realm he possesses now. He treated this Tang-era replica as a classic, copying it meticulously and diligently.
Now, vastly different from before, when he copied this post in the pursuit of resemblance, he couldn't help but pause for several seconds at various points during the process.
"This Tang copy has flaws!"
