With the convenience of a ride-hailing service, Li Shi summoned a car on his phone to the town, sat in his cousin Li Qiang's shop for a while, then asked the driver to take him back to the village.
Walking in the rural fields and looking around, the rolling hills were lush and verdant.
The mountains remained the same, possibly unchanged for hundreds of thousands of years, but the houses under them had seen significant changes over the past decade.
Now the best-looking house in the village was the newly built Suzhou-style compound of Li Shi.
From the outside it was classic Suzhou style, but inside it was modern Chinese design. In order to make it more comfortable, it incorporated modern elements, but the overarching theme was "elegant", which fit Li Shi's semi-artistic taste.
It was his first time seeing the completed version of his new home.
