The exchange between Chen Qiu Ye and I usually took the form of text messaging in WeChat, and occasionally video calls. Although we both knew each other's phone numbers, we had never talked on the phone.
"Excuse me, I need to take a call."
Li Shi handled his drink over to Wang Yan Ni, answered the phone, and walked to his study.
"Why are you calling me all of a sudden?" he asked curiously.
We'd been communicating non-stop about recruitment and interviews on Wechat. Chen Qiu Ye had majored in human resources management in college. After graduation, she had two years of human resources work experience at a large company in Yang Cheng. She was also experienced in employee recruitment, having started her own business with partners.
So it wasn't that Li Shi was not surprised to receive a phone call from Chen Qiu Ye, but rather the fact that she had chosen to call him.
