Li Shi woke up at eight o'clock. He stretched, wriggled out from under the covers, and after freshening up, instead of heading out, he took his notebook from his backpack. Wearing his PJs, he made his way to the patio outside the room. He admired Erhai Lake in the morning light before starting on his end-of-phase summary.
After writing five pages into the thick notebook, he paused momentarily, gazing blankly at the clear lake.
