Chapter 158 - Chapter 158 – A Conspiracy against Harold

Third person POV

Later, in an empty storage room behind a closed door, Sol and that spy had a chat.

"So you're saying that king wanted to kill Harold?" Sol asked him while his arms are crossed.

"Yes, because he thinks that by losing, Harold humiliates his family name," the spy responded while his head was tilted downward, but still looking at the headmaster.

"That's ridiculous," Sol replied back. "How did you even know that Harold had lost?"

"I was there at the time," the spy answered.

"I see. Well, if he were to do that to his own son, then I'll wage war against them you know. That's because, Harold is my student, and it's my responsibility to protect my students."

Sol then thought, "So this is a conspiracy to assassinate someone."

"I wanted to get out of this," the spy said to him, "I'll admit everything to the shogun and defect."

"Sure, I'll help you with that," Sol agreed.

Hearing that, the spy lifted his head and looked at him with a surprised look on his face.

"Really?"

Sol then nodded. "Yes, besides, I'm not that brutal."

Because of the headmaster's willingness, the spy bowed his head deeply for a few moments. "Thank you so much. I'll spit out everything I know."

"Okay then."

And so, they went out of that small room, and walked back to the audience while Emma's fight with a random participant was still ongoing.

Meanwhile, at an inn in the city, Robert and Blaise are hanging out with Lain in his inn room. The room was a bit spacious for one person, and the style was Japanese, just like the rest of Taka. They were eating mochi and drinking hot tea while engaging in a chat.

"Wow, so your father is a swordsman, too?" Robert asked Lain.

"Yes, and although he was one of the generals of the king's army," answered Lain back, "he was not brutal and knows what are the best, but ethical, strategies. He was currently stationed near the border with Saverfort."

"Oh, our hometown is close at the border with that country, too," Blaise responded, before eating her pink, strawberry-flavored mochi.

Robert then sipped on his ceramic glass of green macha tea.

"What town, to be exact?" Lain asked them.

"Peacewood," Robert and Blaise answered simultaneously.

"What? That's near to where my father was stationed!" Lain responded while being mildly surprised.

"Wow, that was odd," Robert commented.

"You two should see him when he comes to your town, okay?" Lain replied back.

"Sure!" Blaise agreed with him.

"I'll welcome him to my potion shop, too."

"Wait, you own a shop?" Lain asked.

"Yes, she manages a potion shop at my hometown," Robert explained. "She inherited it from our parents."

"That's why."

After some time, Robert and Blaise said goodbye to Lain and left the inn and went across the city back to the palace estate. At that time, Emma won the round, and it was Peter's turn to fight in the next round.
