Chapter 102 - Chapter 102 – Scales for Sale

Third person POV

And so, after a late breakfast, Robert and his group went to their wagons, get most of the sacks of giant cobra scales, and carried them all the way to the town marketplace. There they went to one place to another and try to negotiate with sellers to buy their commodities. Some wanted to buy the scales while others declined their offer.

Then, at one of the stands, a seller, a middle-aged man with grey hair and black beard, offered to buy 3 of their sacks for 90 gold coins each.

"Woah, sir, our fixed price is 77 gold coins each," William persuaded in response. "We don't need that much money."

"Come on," the seller persuaded back. "I'm rich. I can buy those things. By the way, that'll be a good crafted gift for my daughter."

"Okay, what is your daughter?" Robert asked out of curiosity. "Is she working or something?"

"Oh, she's currently a guild member at this town," the seller answered back, "and she needs a strong armor to go on adventures. And I would say that this material is good one to start with."

"Okay, so you will buy it for 90 gold coins each?" Harold asked.

"Yes, I'll take three of them," the seller responded, before getting 9 bags of gold coins from under the table and gave it to them.

Receiving the bags of money, Robert, Blaise, and Tanaka gave three of their sacks of giant cobra scales to the sellers.

"Thank you for your business," the seller thanked them.

"Oh, we're not merchants or traders," Sol explained in response. "One of my students here had just slain a giant cobra snake in the valleys, and we just took its scales and decided to sell it here."

"Ah, I see," the seller gets what Sol had said. "So you're a teacher?"

"No, I am the headmaster of a magic academy in Saverfort," Sol responded back.

This really shocked the seller a lot, knowing that he had heard that one of magic academies in Saverfort is a well-known.

"What? Really?" he commented. "Is it the prestigious Peacewood Magic Academy?"

"Yes," answered Sol back.

"I see," the seller responded. "But what are you doing here with your students?"

"Sir, we're just traveling to Zanid," Robert replied back with positive confidence.

"I see then. That'll be a two-days' journey on foot. And plus, the capital is located in the middle of the desert, so you make sure you had enough water to last."

"Thanks for the advice, sir," Emma responded while bowing her head for a few seconds."

"Okay, as for the rest of the sacks of the giant cobra scales you have," the seller replied back, "I suggested Khal's Armory, just a few blocks from this marketplace. He makes one of the best armors you can find in this kingdom."

"Oh, okay, thanks for the suggestion, sir," Robert responded with gratitude. Then to his group, "Come on, guys, let's find that place."

His group then agreed with him, and they carried the rest of the sacks and left the stand as the seller wavered goodbye to them with a good day.

Along the way, they managed to sell off most of their sacks of giant cobra scales at different price levels in accordance to the buyers' preferences. Now, they were left with just 4 sacks, so they decided to leave the marketplace and search for the armory shop the seller just mentioned earlier. After much searching and finding, they finally found it, and they decided to go to the owner and offered the sacks of giant cobra scales to him for 77 gold coins each.

When the owner, Khal Lanzid, a middle-aged man with black hair and beard, saw the sacks, he was shocked to see that much scales, and he asked them where did they get it.

"Oh, one of us slain a giant cobra while camping at the woods," Zarah answered back.

"I see," Khal responded back as he readjusts his glasses. "So it's 77 gold coins each?"

"Yes, and it's high-quality," Peter replied. "Take a look for yourself."

In response to that, Khal cut opened one of the sacks and expand the hole, only to see that the scales are, indeed, of high-quality, indicating that the giant cobra was well-matured.

"Wow, these are so beautiful and durable," he commented while examining one of the pieces. "It's bigger than the ones I had before."

He then glanced at Robert and the others and made a decision to buy them all for 77 gold coins each.

"Okay, here you go," Robert responded as Blaise and Tadashi gave the other three sacks to Khal.

Khal then hurriedly went to inside his shop to get some bags of gold coins, before coming back and gave the money to them saying, "Thank you, for your business."

Receiving the money, Robert replied, "You're welcome, Khal-san."

After that, Khal said to them, "Say, would you mind if I make some armor out of it? I'll send them to you by mail."

"Oh really?" Robert responded back.

"Yes, just give me your addresses and I'll send them to you by mail," Khal replied, before getting a blank notepad and a quill pen and ink bottle.

In response to that, Robert, Harold, William, Emma, Zarah, and Tanaka wrote their addresses so they would become Khal's customers. This take a while because others had to wait for one of them to use the quill pen, but it's worth it.

"Here you go," William said to Khal as he handed the notepad to him.

"Thank you so much," Khal responded with gratitude.

"How about our sizes?" Harold asked.

"Don't worry, I can tell by just looking at your clothes," Khal laughed. "I had seen a lot of sizes in my whole career."

Robert and the others then get what he had said.

"Okay, I'll be working in your orders for the time being," Khal said to them. "All of you may go now."

With that, Robert and his group left the shop and went back to their wagons with the money they got from their sales.

Back at the wagons, they counted the money in stacks and split the money equally among them. The extra ones will be given to Zarah's driver as sort of a tip for him. Despite the driver's insistence that he doesn't want any extra money, Zarah just insisted back, and the driver eventually accepted it anyway.

Shortly thereafter, they left the town and went on their way through the corridor valley towards Zanid, ending their visit in Kavid.
