After a beat Warren asks in a gruff thick voice. /"What the fuck is going on?/"
/"Nothing. I have to go to work./" I fold my arms over my chest to hide my fidgeting hands.
/"Bullshit./" Warren steps closer to me and my heart pounds in my chest.
/"It's not./"
/"Then why aren't you looking at me?/"
/"I am./" I enunciate in frustration.
/"You're looking at my fucking chest. Look into my eyes./"
The stupid crazy asshole knows I can't do that. I can't lie to someone while looking into their eyes. It's a telltale he picked up as my best friend ten years ago.
/"I will not,/" I say adamantly.
A finger lifts my chin and our determined gazes align. A bubble of tension grows between us sucking us right into it like a vacuum.
/"What's wrong?/" I feel the tip of his thumb caressing me.
