Chapter 22 - I hate him... to the core

I entered the bathroom and freshened up, slipping into a beautiful white silky nightgown.

A knock on the door caught my attention, and it swung open, revealing one of his men.

"What happened this time?" I wondered, fear evident in my eyes as I looked up at the man.

"The boss won't be coming home tonight," the man announced before leaving promptly.

It's none of my business if he doesn't come home. He can get lost for all I care. Instead, I feel a sense of relief. I won't have to sleep on the edge of the bed, in constant fear of falling off.

Looking around the dimly lit room, fear clutched at my heart. I wasn't accustomed to sleeping alone, especially in this vast room with a creepy portrait of a naked woman on the wall. It was eerie, and the intimidating atmosphere made it even more difficult to sleep.

And then it struck me—whenever he's around, my fears are directed toward him, overshadowing the reality of the place we're in. It's as if his presence consumes all my anxieties, masking the unsettling environment.

I stood up from the couch, walked towards the bed, and grabbed a blanket and a pillow. Making my way to the wall window, I opened the curtains, revealing a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. The night sky had a lustrous glow, making the city lights shine brighter than the noon sun. The view was beautiful.

Spreading the blanket on the tiled floor, I rested my head on the pillow and covered myself with an extra blanket, fixating my gaze on the mesmerizing scenery. My thoughts wandered to him. Where was he? Perhaps at the nightclub, engaged in liaisons with some girl.

Who cares? He can do whatever he wants and fool around with whomever he pleases, I thought, trying to convince myself that I didn't care. Yet, a tinge of jealousy lingered in my heart.

I don't know why I felt that way, but I certainly didn't like him, and I'll never forgive him in this life or the next.

I despise him to the core.

He drove through the main street for eight minutes until he reached his destination. The gate opened, and he parked his car at the side of the building. With graceful movements, he walked towards the entrance.

"Supreme Boss," the guards chorused, bowing deeply as he passed by them.

He stopped at the door, swinging it open as he entered.

"Ohh! Look who's here, the handsome demon," a guy with almost pale skin, fluffy dark hair, and crystal eyeglasses remarked. He was wearing a big black hoodie.

Adrian ignored the guy and proceeded to the wine cellar, selecting a bottle of wine for himself.

"Some manners, Adrian. This is my house; you still need permission before taking things," the guy said with furrowed brows, glaring at him.

"Shut it, Ryder," Adrian retorted, strolling towards the couch with a glass of wine in his hand.

"I'm the older guy here, Adrian. You should show me some respect," Ryder insisted.

"Ahh... You want my respect?" Adrian asked sarcastically, raising an eyebrow.

"No! Just kidding," Ryder quickly interjected, not wanting to further provoke his demon-like friend.

"Good," Adrian smirked.

"Any news from the forum?" he asked, taking a sip of his wine.

"Yeah, I was planning to swing by your place tomorrow, but fortunately, you're here," Ryder replied, standing up and moving to the counter, retrieving some files.

"Here it is. The CEO of Mega Corporation wants to partner with you. He believes you can help the company recover after losing billions to a cunning investor," Ryder informed, placing the file on the table.

Adrian chuckled darkly as he looked down at the file in front of him. The man was now begging for his help, after crossing the line.

Well, he would assist him, but it would come at the cost of his title—the CEO of Mega Corporation.

"Any other information apart from this?"

"Yes, just some random news. Falcon International is on the verge of bankruptcy, and the CEO is considering liquidating the company."

"It's unfortunate. It used to be one of the top ten best companies in the city," Ryder added.

"What's the worth of the company's assets, excluding the liabilities?" Adrian inquired.

"It's around 40 billion dollars," Ryder replied.

"What about the market value?" Adrian asked, causing Ryder to furrow his brows in confusion.

"Adrian, I hope you're not thinking what I'm thinking right now."

"Exactly what you're thinking," Adrian confirmed.

"I'm buying the company," Adrian concluded.

"You can't be serious, Adrian."

"Do I sound like I'm joking?"

"Listen, Adrian, I know you're a tycoon in the business world, but thisis not a wise decision."

"Dude, that company is drowning in debt. They owe more capital than you can imagine," Ryder argued.

"Don't tell me what to do. Set up a board meeting in 15 hours in Country Z, and ensure that every member is present," Adrian ordered, standing up to leave.

"Adrian, you're going to end up broke. You can't do this," Ryder pleaded, frustration evident in his voice.

"It's all in your head, Ryder," Adrian responded, walking towards the door.

"You can invest a few billion in my business, and I'll help you if my words turn out to be true," Ryder attempted to coax out of frustration.

"You're funny, Ryder."

He walked out of the house and got into his car, driving away.

"Welcome, boss," the manager of the Elite Club greeted, bowing his head.

"VIP 700," Adrian stated as he headed towards the elevator.

"She'll be right there, Boss."
