Chapter 4 - The Final Journey

As the caravan slowly went through the death forest, everyone tense up and prepared for any possible attack.

Before long, the caravan was halfway through the forest and there wasn't any sign of the attack.

But no one was happy at this silence, instead, they were worried about what was to come. Before long some movement was heard in the woods.

"Incoming!"

The silence was interrupted but a loud shot, followed by the sounds of gunshots.

"Let's go."

The guy sitting side Thomson said, as he stood up and started firing at the upcoming Werewolves.

Seeing this, Thomson didn't waste any time and he too jumped into combat mode. Standing up, he saw a wave of Werewolves running toward the caravan from all directions.

Each Werewolf was around 6.7 feet tall, some big ones even reaching 7-8 feet. Seeing the bloodthirsty Werewolves, Thomson remembered the first time he went Werewolf hunting.

'First time I saw them I was scared. Now they just look like oversized skinny bears.'

Laughing at the past, Thomsona aimed at one of the big guys in the herd and fired a shot.

Soon the bullet left the sniper barrel and headed toward the Werewolf's forehead. The best way to kill a Werewolf, shoot it in the head.

The hit bullet hit the Werewolf and penetrated his skull. The Werewolf stopped in his tracks and almost fell to the ground. But the Werewolf got hold of himself and looked toward Thomson's direction with his red fury eyes.

"Oh, that's a Juvenile."

Thomson is surprised when he doesn't see the Werewolf drop dead.

Werewolves have a long lifespan of seven hundred to eight hundred years, thus their bodies take a lot of time to mature.

Newborn werewolves can easily be killed by an adult. This is because newborn werewolves are born with very soft bones and they take a lot of time to mature. It takes a Werewolf around 100 years to fully mature.

It is only after they are mature that they start gaining their monstrous strength.

After 100 years of growing up, the Werewolves go through the Juvenile phase. This phase lasts around 200 years.

During this time, their bones gain a lot of mass and become denser.

That is why a 5.6mm bullet isn't enough to kill it.

"If one shot isn't enough, then I will shoot until you are dead."

Humbling under his breath, Thomson fired two more shots at the Werewolf.

As both bullets hit the Werewolf it fell to the ground, nearly dead.

Seeing this, Thomson readjusted his aim and started shooting at the other Werewolves.

After killing four more Werewolves, his mag was empty. Quickly Thomson took out a magazine from this belt and put it inside this sniper.

"Watch out."

As he was changing his mag, a Werewolf bypassed the soldiers at the front and almost reached the truck.

Thankfully the woman sitting on the other side of the truck noticed it and opened fire.

It was then everyone noticed a gap in their defence. The rear of the caravan was breached and a few soldiers at the back were killed.

Looking toward the back, a big bulky Werewolf came into Thomson's sight.

"It can't be."

Seeing the bulky Werewolf, Thomson had a bad feeling.

"That's an adult."

"How the hell a monster like this appeared here."

"We are screwed, there is no way I am getting out of here alive."

All the soldiers guarding the caravan saw the bulky Werewolf, and a look of fear appeared on their faces.

A fully grown Werewolf, the real terror of the Werewolf race.

These Werewolves have superhuman strength and can easily slaughter a whole battalion, if not well-equipped.

"Ready the rocket launchers."

The major voice sounded throughout the caravan. Hearing the Major vice, a few soldiers at the front headed toward the supply trucks to get the rocket launchers.

But this caused the soldiers at the front to have a much harder time.

"Move on before this gets out of hand."

A skinny guy sitting inside the same passenger truck as Thomson shouted. Soon the guy jumped out of the truck and headed toward the rear.

The rest followed behind him. The same thing happened to other passenger trucks. Everyone in the passenger truck came out to defend the rear.

Seeing all this, Thomson also came out of the truck. He was surrounded by Werewolves and the sound of gunshots was constantly ringing in his ears.

With a heavy heart, he started firing.

This time, instead of targeting big Werewolves, he only focuses on the regular ones. Aiming at the target he pulled the trigger, with each bullet a Werewolf would fall.

Before long Thomson was out of bullets.

"I should have taken out more bullets."

Curing himself for not taking out more bullets from his luggage, Thomson looked toward the medics' direction and shouted.

"Can I get a case...…."

Before Thomson could finish his words, a Werewolf arrived behind him and attacked him with his claws.

Because of the sudden attack, Thomson was caught off guard and he was sent flying by Werewolf's share force.

When he landed half a metre away from the Werewolf, deep claw marks were on his back. Even his spine was broken.

As Thomson landed on the ground, his face started twitching because of the pain.

"Six o'clock!"

Seeing the Werewolf attacking Thomson, the others opened fire on the Werewolf that attacked him.

As bullets were fired at the Werewolf from all directions, it was soon turned into a corpse.

"You are gonna be alright."

Thomson heard a small voice as he felt someone lifting him. But soon his consciousness drifted into nothingness.

Seeing as Thomson got attacked by a Werewolf, the medic teams quickly put him on a stretcher and took him inside the truck. Trying their best to keep him alive.

Meanwhile, the soldier got the rocket launchers and fired a missile at the bulky Werewolf.

Soon the missile flew out of the rocket launcher and headed toward the Werewolf direction. Seeing the missile heading his way, panic could be seen in the bulky Werewolf's eyes. He knows full well how much damage this thing can cause.

He jumped and hid behind a supply truck. But the guided missile followed him behind the truck.
