Zoe startles at night as she hears her sister waking up first to begin her prayers. Since she has kept the faith, she needs the wash basin first. Zoe stretches with a soft smile, knowing her sister will take some time. Closing her eyes, she heard the movement of the wash basin as the subtle lapping water helped her move back to sleep.
The soft brimstone scent filled the room for a few moments as Zoe stirred awake. Watching her sister use the wash basin, knowing she is following, there is a knock at the door. Nica quickly covered herself as their father came in and told her the Guardian needed her.
Nica seemed almost panicked at the news. Zoe didn't understand why because, unlike her sister, she didn't believe in the fates. For Zoe, nothing was significant about the Seer, the Guardian, or the Oracle. The nightmares haunted her, but she didn't believe in the scriptures. There was no need to when the world was complicated enough on its own.
