Chereads / Reverend Cultivation / Chapter 2 - (2) On this path again, with no regret!

Chapter 2 - (2) On this path again, with no regret!

It is said in legend that a pathway for the soul exists. It supports the world's soul circulation, in other words, the cycle of life.

This was a skeptical matter to all living beings.

Some believe it and some do not. But in the end, everyone goes through it once in their life, it was upon death.

And by using the incanted item, Louvain got from the inheritance, one can resist this pathway's powers, which erase all memory and spiritual force stored within the soul.

This incanted item named reincarnation, unfortunately, wasn't an item that was guaranteed success, there were chances of it failing.

In that situation, Louvain could only use it as a last resort.

This technique used all his cultivation both in body and soul at once, creating a mysterious shield around his soul to defend against the pathway forces and hide its presence upon self-destruction.

Louvain started believing in the existence of the soul pathway; only people who have seen it with their own eyes believe in it after all.

Seeing the balls of blue light going toward the huge black hole, Louvain was fascinated.

There was nothing but darkness around him, with millions of souls shining like stars. The sight was beutiful beyond words.

Being a lump of blue light himself, he felt himself to be insignificant in front of that majestic black hole.

When looked closely, the black hole was nothing but a lump of black matter, which absorbed the memory and spiritual forces from the soul passing through it.

The lump of blue light, which was Louvain's soul, was covered in a dazzling black light. This light acted as a shield.

Slowly his soul reached the black matter, he had watched the whole process intently feeling helplessness rising within him. Right at the moment, he could only hope.....

'Pffft... I, a demonic overlord hoping?' It was ridiculous to think such a thing.

He would either fail and vanish for all eternity or succeed in getting another chance to pursue his goal!

Immense ambition and madness fill him.

In front of the huge black hole, Louvain's soul was like a speck of dust that got swallowed whole.

In the darkness, he started reliving his memory. All the things he went through to be able to become what he was right now passed through his eyes. And a certain memory surfaced in between.

...

Gazing at the star-filled sky, A youth looking to be 19 years old made an emotionless look. He stood on the balcony of his room.

"Sigh....." A soft sigh left his mouth which trailed away in the air.

An immense amount of fatigue appeared in the youth's eyes, which wasn't normal for kids his age.

'Is living a life like this worth it...?' The youth asked himself, feeling lost.

A life fully controlled by others and with no meaning at all. His whole life, he could only follow the orders and rules made by others.

It was disgusting.

Society acted as a chain binding people and making them follow the rule stated by it. If not, the people in society would look down upon you with contempt, Making others' lives hard.

Humans are such creatures who choose the easy path presented to them. Currently living in society is the easiest way and a widespread means available to everyone.

So it was apparent they would choose to abide by the rules stated by society, slaving away their whole life with no hesitation.

People were constantly brainwashed and forced to follow the rules set by society. Like this people lived their life deceiving themselves and the people around them.

Is there any meaning in living a life like that at all?

Collecting pieces of paper called money to fulfill their wishes with no further consideration.

Was this piece of paper the same worth as our whole life?

What bullshit!

This seems pitiful and insignificant in his eyes.

To the youth, even living as an illiterate fool with no job didn't matter. He had already given up, he just waited for death to free him from this world.

The only reason he went to college was for his parents. He was also human, he felt filial emotions and other emotions like anyone else. The guilt towards his parents kept him going.

But after living for years in a society that appeared disgusting in his eyes-

He was tired.

He felt sick.

Sick of living.

The thought that he had to live his whole life slaving away in one of the gears of society, made him feel sick. Even if he persevered till the end, all he would get was some pieces of paper that held value only within the society.

The most sickening thing was he himself was also affected by society.

Though he might never be free physically, he wanted to be free at least in a mental state. But in the end, that too was just a fickle dream, that could not be fulfilled.

Being brainwashed from a young age by learning morality and ethics from people who have accepted society, certain values were formed in his head.

This value wasn't something that could be changed by just one's own will.

The young man felt suffocated by himself, he felt immense hopelessness and disappointment in himself.

'Hehe, that's right, I am nothing but a hypocrite, that can't even resist the things I hate.' The youth sneered at himself.

Taking out a mobile from his pocket, the youth looked at his reflection on its screen. He had an ordinary look with the only unusual thing being his dead eyes.

Black hair and light green eyes, he wore a white jacket as it was nighttime. His name was Keivan.

He had come to get some fresh air on the balcony or that was at least why he initially came out of his room.

Without further ado, Keivan climbed up the railing and jumped off the balcony. For the first time, he felt free, ignoring his family, society, and the consciousness that was telling him not to do such a thing.

"Hahaha..."

The wind hit his face harshly as his body fell head first, and in the end, his vision went dark.

...

Opening his eyes, a dirty alley entered his sight.

"Is this… the current me?" Louvain looked at his small hand, with his deep black eyes.

He had succeeded in reincarnating!

He thought about the memories of his previous life on Earth which emerged suddenly a second ago.

Hundreds of years had gone by with him fighting for his life, so he had forgotten about it.

He was a transmigrater who chanced upon this world. Coming to this world, Louvain tried his best to pursue strength.

In this world of cultivation where individual strength was all that mattered. He had hope of gaining the freedom he couldn't in his previous life. For that he had to rise to the top, surpassing everyone.

Rustle~

His eyes glazed over, hearing the sound of something moving.

A beggar's kid with only rags covering his whole body entered Louvain's sight.

The kid's body froze, feeling the deep black eyes land upon him.

Louvain's eyes shone with bloodthirst. The killing intent was akin to two swords stabbing into the kid's body.

The begger started moving away at a quick pace. His survival instinct was screaming right now.

As silence set in once again, Louvain took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

Louvain's current appearance looked very weak. Almost malnourished. His bone could be seen in closer observation and his skin was pale.

Memories of the past owner of this body came flooding into his mind. The memory was very chaotic, enabling him to understand just a portion of it.

His name was Mangrel, a 13-year-old beggar living in one of the alleys with his mother. He had deep black hair and complimentary eyes.

Feeling that nothing was wrong, his eyes got filled with glee.

Calming down, he looked at the starry purple sky above him just like in his first life.

19 years as Keivan.

700 years as Louvain.

And now a new beginning as Mangrel.

His journey hadn't come to an end. The desire within his heart burnt as brightly as ever, it had just grown with time.

'Though I have to redo everything from the beginning, it doesn't matter. No matter how hard, no matter how dangerous! I am on this path again, with no regret!' Holding up his weak hand, An evil grin adorned his face.
