Chapter 1 - Prologue: The book

The book was made of leather and the number of pages in the book was much thicker than the existing ancient manuscripts.

Today the book is in the archives of the Smithsonian Museum in America, researchers and historians surround the book that is on the table.

"Doctor Gordon, are you sure this book is really an ancient manuscript? The front page and leather cover may look old, but look at the back it looks newer. The writing span of this book is probably over hundreds of decades. This is ridiculous!" An old man with small round glasses frowned.

"Damn you Olaf, What you are seeing is far more important than the ancient scrolls of parchment you read every day. This book could even change the world and remember me Gordon was the first to bring it from the caverns of the Great Canyon valley!" Gordon looks proud of his findings.

Olaf who looked still doubtful then took the latex gloves he had and carefully untied the cover of the old book which looked very old.

Behind the cover of the book, there was parchment paper (paper from animal skins) then he came to the first page of the mysterious book. "Quem Sou Eu?" , these words of Portuguese origin translate to "Who am I?".

"Hahaha so this is what you found Gordon? A children's manuscript? How can a photo of a human in Victorian era clothes be stuck on this very old parchment?" Olaf's laughter stopped short when he saw the next photo on the first page. Beneath the photo is an oil painting of a Caucasian woman, probably of Japanese or Chinese ethnicity. Yuno was written beneath the painting, most likely the name of the subject Olaf was currently staring at.

The woman is described as having a sad face and looking gloomy but has a charming elegance. Next, a black and white photo with the background of Parisian streets and a human because the camera's perspective is so far away that the human looks faint and small. There was handwriting "Je suis la premiere personne a etre photographie." when translated from French it means I am the first human ever to be photographed.

"Olaf is this what I thought? This is the first human photo in France isn't it? Olaf!"

Gordon's call brought the stunned Olaf back to his senses then he lifted the photo carefully and turned it over. There is a signature in the name of Luis Daguerre, proving that the photo held by Olaf is a lost copy of the first human photograph taken in Paris in 1838. This photo alone was a world-shattering discovery and attracted the enthusiasm of thousands of collectors.

Beneath the photos was a picture of a man with a gun in his right hand slumped in bed and blood dripping from his head. There was a handwriting from the author of the book, Olaf immediately deciphered the handwriting and read it to Gordon who was so enthusiastically waiting while smoking his cigar.

"I am Hababil, to my knowledge, I am a nobleman from the Egyptian region. I was once the right-hand man and friend of Salahuddin/Saladdin. That day, Saladdin and I were secretly visited by a man wearing an iron mask and an all-white shirt, along with one other person accompanying him. . I immediately took my sword belt but when I wanted to draw it Salahuddin my friend restrained me. The person behind the masked face was the enemy and leader of Jerusalem at that time, Baldwin IV. Salahuddin invited him in and they chatted for so long until when they finished and wanted standing up I felt cold in my chest. A sword stuck there penetrated from my back to my chest, in front of me baldwin also stabbed the man accompanying him and that's when I died." Olaf stopped and looked at Gordon. The man was also dumbfounded and put on a cute facial expression.

"Olaf is this story real? How can a man tell that he died? I think I just found a pile of trash!" Gordon snorted and blushed.

"Not that fast Gordon based on what I've seen this paper is ancient I'm going to take ten pages off and get the radiocarbon dating done. You just wait here." Olaf immediately ran out of the room and his footsteps got further and further away.

Gordon poured vodka into a glass and took a sip, the liquid alcohol he drank to relieve his emotions and doubts he had about his findings. As a researcher and explorer, it has been Gordon's dream to discover new and unique things that can advance his career and write his name in history.

"Gordon you won't believe this the lab team is mad they say the front page parchment is at least a thousand years old and that photo, it's all real!!!" shouted Olaf running into the room.

Gordon rushed to Olaf and hugged him "That's great Olaf, now we have to get to work matching this book with history and translating it." Olaf then fell silent and stepped away from Gordon.

"This book.... maybe.... this person can change our view of world history, history will change and its impact on many people....." Olaf fell silent again.

Their research on the book had just begun, The Story of Hababil as the Immortal Man had just opened.
