Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Waiting Game

Under the dining table, Liam kicked his best friend's leg. The force wasn't enough to hurt nor be heard by anyone unless they were listening.

Mar gave him a look while chewing on his salad. Those purple eyes briefly glanced at their butler before meeting blue eyes again. Those black sneakers kicked sideways, knocking on Liam's own shoe twice.

Ah, so Mar noticed it too.

The platinum blond alpha just nodded in response. He watched those purple eyes move across the room and landed on the pack of omegas surrounding Mrs. Devin the first.

"I'm done." Mar pushed his plate away, catching the attention of the few people sitting around them. "Bro, let's get dessert."

"Alright." Liam stood up from his seat and began walking towards the little door connecting them to the kitchen.

With his companion trailing behind him, the taller alpha waited until the black haired alpha was inside before closing the door shut. Finally, he escaped the unintentionally suffocating air of the dining room.

"Little ones, welcome back." Ms. Lin's voice greeted them, and several other chefs gave them questioning looks.

"Ms. Lin!" Mar put on his happy voice, a smile fell on his face and held in place like a mask.

After talking to the head chef, Liam walked out of the kitchen holding a large bowl which he can easily fit his entire head inside. The bowl contained various pastries and cookies, with several small plastic containers full of sauce. Walking beside him, Mar was carefully holding a cheese cake in both of his arms. His slender fingers gripping the edge of the cake plate as if his life was depending on it.

"Young masters?" Their new butler showed up from behind them, almost making the pair drop their bounty.

"Don't sneak up on us like that." Liam sighed.

"I apologize." Arkham gave them a soft smile. "Allow me to help—"

"No, thanks!" The black haired alpha immediately declined. "Go rest. Sleep early. Tomorrow, you have a lot to clean up. We'll tell Petrov you're not slacking off."

The butler hesitated for a full ten seconds before he nodded. "Yes, young masters."

They left the new butler standing in the hallway. Once they arrived at their room, Mar took the incentive to open the door with his feet. Liam could've held the bowl with one arm and opened it, but his best friend stopped him with a kick at the door before he could do anything. A black shoe successfully turned the door knob after the second try, and the alpha gave Liam a grin.

Flexible fucker.

Mar pushed his way into the room, and Liam followed behind him, kicking the door shut. After the black haired alpha carefully placed his cheese cake on the coffee table, he quickly ran towards the door.

Slender fingers expertly locked the door while Liam melted on to their shared couch. The couch isn't horribly short and horribly green like the ones in their apartment, but for some reason, the blue luxurious couch isn't as comfortable.

"Okay, so we have a bunch of things to unpack." Mar sighed as he dropped himself on top of Liam.

The platinum blond alpha groaned at the weight being put on him, but his arms move on their own to wrap around his companion's torso.

"So... We're not gonna talk about Blue and Rex." The taller alpha mumbled out. "That's enough for today."

His best friend laughed; his chest was rumbling from the vibration, and Liam's fingers felt every one of it as they tangled on the small of Mar's back. The black haired alpha took out his phone from his pocket, then he opened the compartment inside of his phone case. A silver metal glint in the dark room, and blue eyes looked at it in wonder.

His chin dug into Liam's chest, but the platinum blond alpha didn't mind the pain because purple eyes were looking up at him from the mounts of his boobs. Well, that's a pretty weird thing to think about, but it's adoring.

"I need to grab one of my laptops." Mar mumbled. The taller alpha could feel those lips on his skin even though there's a fabric separating them.

"Yeah, where do you wanna look at it?" Liam craned his neck to look at their desks. The lights weren't on, so his action was pretty useless.

"Here." The black haired alpha pushed himself off his companion.

A rustling from Mar taking off his shoes was heard, so Liam took off his too before throwing them at the shoe stand close to the door. He heard Mar's chuckle from across the room.

"Mar?" The alpha called out to his companion while the thought was still fresh in his head. "What do you think of our new butler?"

"He's a little weird, but fine." The black haired alpha's footsteps were heard as he walked around his suitcase. Then, the sound of a zipper penetrated the silence. After a few seconds of more rustling, Mar spoke again. "He got something up his sleeves, but he hasn't done anything yet."

If that guy turns out to be an assassin, it's not the first time someone tried to murder Mr. Aster. At least he's not poisoning the entire dinner. Well, the chefs are also poison detectors, and the grape tomatoes that both Mar and Liam ate would be detrimental if they're poisoned. Plus, Ms. Lin wouldn't let the tomatoes out of the kitchen if she didn't check them.

Well, what if Arkham put something in the tomatoes while they're distracted with Blue's parents?

Guess they have to sleep and find out in the morning.

"Deep in thoughts again?" A pair of plush lips pushed themselves against the taller alpha's forehead, and Liam snapped back to reality. "You're thinking about ways he can kill us?"

"Yeah." The platinum blond alpha sighed and opened his eyes. Blue eyes met purple ones, making him calm down a bit. "What if he puts poison in our tomatoes?"

"He didn't." Mar replied with confidence as he opened his laptop. "I don't think he's an assassin. If he is, he's taking awfully long to get his job done."

"Maybe he's taking his time." Liam sat up and wrapped his arms around his best friend's torso again. His fingers rested above those chiseled abs for a solid second before they wiggled their way under Mar's shirt. "Maybe he's playing the waiting game."
