Luna supported Emmia as she walked through the hallways.
"See I told you I can walk!" Emmia told Luna at her side, her gaze facing forward fixedly.
"...And I *saw* you fall," Luna countered.
"Fair point, but have you considered that I might have gotten better?" Emmia placed her arguments in a logical manner. Taking Luna's silence as an opportunity, Emmia pulled away and started to walk by herself.
'Not so bad,' Emmia tried to convince herself as she felt her legs starting to tense up. Right now, Emmia would rather bear this pain rather than be...dangerously close to Luna.
"...fine," Luna agreed her lips pressing together almost invisibly.
The pair walked in silence nearing their destination, the library.
"Are you mad?" Emmia suddenly questioned.
The question surprised Emmia herself more than Luna.
"...why do you think....I'm angry?" Luna asked softly.
"I-uh...I just had-uh a feeling," Emmia stuttered, trying to get an answer out when even she didn't know why.
"...I'm not angry," Luna decided to give Emmia some mercy from embarrassing herself too much.
"I see," Emmia fake coughed, bringing up her red hand to her mouth.
"I'm just worried....that you might fall apart at any moment," Luna's voice trailed of at the end, and even Emmia wasn't able to pick it up.
"Thanks for worrying," Emmia answered awkwardly.
A small moment of silence passed by as Emmia started to realize the set of words that had just escaped her mouth.
'Thanks for wOrRyInG?'
'Oh god what did I just sayyyy'
'I just want to dig a hole and crawl into itttt'
'That was soo cringeeee.'
Emmia started to blush once more, this time embarrassment burning all over her face.
"...you're wel-heh," Luna broke off trying to reply with a laugh.
"Hey..." Emmia stared at Luna with mock anger.
Luna looked at Emmia innocently and if it were anyone else Luna's stone face would've worked.
'Did she actually laugh?' Emmia had a sudden thought as she observed Luna's face intently.
'Her poker face is too-'
"Aha! You did laugh!" Emmia exclaimed after seeing Luna's lips curl up ever so slightly.
"I don't know what you mean," Luna defended her innocence without skipping a beat.
Emmia pouted and flipped her head dramatically.
"You know exactly what I mean." Emmia accused Luna in a mock-grave tone.
"..sureee," Luna drawled before she started to laugh, unable to hold herself together.
Stunned for a moment, Emmia soon joined Luna in laughing as the duo made their way to the library, unaware of the gaze that followed them.
Chase stood in one corner of the corridor as he watched Luna and Emmia enter the library.
'This may be slightly difficult,' Chase mused to himself.
'That black-haired bitch is almost always next to the blondie.'
'I need to separate them somehow.'
'Should I use my mind slaves?' Chase contemplated setting his fans on Luna's tail and watching as they ripped Luna limb from limb. After all it would be dreadfully easy to do so.
'No,' Chase thought coldly.
'I'll handle her myself,' Chase's lips curled up into a smile. His ordinary face nowhere to be seen. The divots and scars on his face creased and sunk into one another as Chase looked more like an old man with half a step into the grave. One of his eyes nearly shut itself due to the contraction while the other lay disturbingly wide open, still glazed over.
A series of sadistic thoughts drove Chase to an edge. He could already see it. Just moments after he broke that girl's will with his gift turning her into a mindless puppet. Just like he did with-
A hand tapped his shoulder, which prompted Chase to spin around in surprise.
Instead of screaming as any sane person would, the girl nearly swooned seeing Chase's perfect face sculpted into an expression of surprise.
"What is it?" Chase asked, his melodious voice sending jitters down the girl's spine.
The girl was actually a senior, 2 years older than Chase, but in front of him, she looked 2 years younger, with a nervous face and shaking hands.
"Ch-chase, m-may I-I-I get an au-auto-graph?" The girl stuttered nervously, her eyes twinkling in anticipation.
Pretending to be surprised once again, Chase answered, "Of course."
Taking the notepad from the shaking girl, he slipped a pen out of his pocket and activated his gift. Signing the paper with his name, Chase scribbled something else on the bottom as well before handing the pad back to the girl.
"Th-thank you!" The girl squeaked before hurrying back to her friends.
Chase just chucked softly.
'Another one charmed.'
Taking one last glance at the library, Chase turned and headed in the opposite direction.
'Not yet. I need to prepare a little.' A swirl of malicious thoughts twirled in his head as he struggled to decide what he actually wanted to do.
---------------
Dropping the books on the table with a thud, Luna plopped herself down onto the seat opposite Emmia's.
Luna had volunteered to get the books that Emmia required to make up all the work that she missed, and she had just gotten the last set of books.
"...all done," Luna announced to a dead-eyed Emmia.
"Thanks," Emmia thanked Luna in a monotone voice.
"...It's not that bad....you just need to cover specific chapters inside each book," Luna tried to comfort Emmia.
To that, Emmia just nodded as she looked at the list of chapters that she needed to cover.
Three chapters of History.
Five chapters of Wildlife Biology.
Three chapters of Universal Energy.
Four chapters of Combat Theory. (Why combat theory existed Emmia didn't know)
Two chapters of Maths.
'Alright! No point in moping here. I need to get started now so that I can finish it at some point!' Emmia hyped herself up and then dove into the books.
It turned out, that in fact, it was *not* all that bad after all.
History was pretty easy to cover and Emmia made a mental note to wrestle the notes out of Sefir later.
The same went with UE 101.
The problem chapters like Combat Training and Wildlife Biology, Luna had helped Emmia with.
Finally, Emmia started to skim through the last subject, Maths.
Slamming the book close, Emmia gave a loud sigh, disturbing the pristine silence of the library.
"I'm done!" Emmia cheered with her hands thrown in the air to stretch. Opposite her, Luna clapped her hands softly in congratulations.
"...you still have to study the topics now," Luna reminded Emmia as she started to clear the books from their table.
"Hm?" Emmia didn't look up and continued piling each book to one side.
"I totally done," Emmia claimed once more.
"...all you did was look at all the topics in brief," Luna narrowed her eyes ever so slightly.
"I don't know what you mean," Emmia shifted her eyes away and started to sweat.
"....Emmia," Luna started.
"I'll do it laterrr," Emmia finally gave in. "It's just all so boring. I want to do something interesting for now."
"...you can do that later once you finish this work," Luna tried to reason with Emmia.
"I don't even have my notebooks, I swear I'll do it later! Tomorrow in fact! Just not today," Emmia pleaded to Luna as she opened her bag to take out her sketchbook and various research books.
"....fine, tomorrow we'll study," Luna relented softly. She watched as Emmia grinned and started to leaf through the books with a concentration that wasn't there while studying.
Luna herself fell into a short daze watching Emmia's face scrunched up in concentration.
In the same daze, Luna suddenly felt a pull and her vision turned black.
