Icarth didn't bother to activate his partial transformation. In his mind, it wasn't necessary for this fight.
Using his rudimentary control of universal energy, Icarth channeled it to his eyes.
A familiar sensation washed over him as a blotch of red entered his eyes. Icarth senses tingled like crazy alarmed at the danger that was approaching.
Sefir was at an arm's distance away when Icarth punched out.
Blocking, Sefir kicked up, kicking away the sand from the ground.
Icarth caught the knee in his other hand and both of them paused before disentangling.
Icarth retracted his hand and caught Sefir's retreating knee.
Gathering strength, Icarth yanked Sefir violently, trying to end it quickly.
Letting Icarth pull him, Sefir pulled up his other foot and caught Icarth in a vice grip. Using his core, Sefir pulled himself up and threw a powerful punch directly at Icarth's face.
Caught off guard, Icarth reeled backward from the punch as Sefir fell to the ground.
Springing to his feet, Sefir didnt charge forward, instead, he waited just out of range for Icarth to make his move.
Icarth regained his balance quickly. Neither of them said a word and both circled each other.
Suddenly with a powerful thud, Icarth shot forward, keeping his stance low trying to topple Sefir.
Anticipating this, Sefir moved back at the last moment and threw himself on top of Icarth. Falling to the ground, Icarth felt Sefir driving him to the ground with the combined effort of his weight and momentum.
Gritting his teeth, Icarth activated his partial transformation, and strength flowed into his body. Springing up using his arms, Icarth threw Sefir off creating a distance between them.
"Finally taking this seriously?" Sefir commented coldly.
Icarth didn't respond. His pale red eyes glowed and his blond hair waved in the wind.
Icarth extended his claws and gathered power in his legs.
Sefir took a rigid stance, his countenance shifting to a wall. A feeling of dread started to worm itself into him. Instead of fearing it, Sefir accepted it and readied himself.
Universal energy flowed at his command and Sefir felt his body hum in response.
Icarth charged once more. But this time with a completely different speed than before.
Normally Sefir wouldn't have been able to react to this. But surrendering himself to his instincts, Sefir blocked instinctively.
Grabbing a claw, Sefir held it in his bare hands without it cutting deeper.
Surprised, Icarth reacted late to the sidekick thrown at him.
Grunting, Icarth was thrown away as Sefir let go of the claws at the same time as the kick landed.
Following up, Sefir moved first for the second time in the fight.
Throwing another kick, Icarth caught it this time. Trying to dig his claws in, Icarth found that he couldn't do it in that instant.
Letting go, Icarth dodged the next kick thrown using his hold as leverage.
Jumping forwards, Icarth tried to pin Sefir down as he fell. Landing on his hands, Sefir twisted his body in an impossible motion and flicked his legs straight at Icarth's neck.
Sensing the danger, Icarth jumped back without a second thought letting Sefir get back on his feet.
This time Sefir's stance was different, opting for a more fluid stance.
Determined to win, Icarth blasted forwards once more.
Sefir switched his stance in anticipation of the strike, but Icarth stomped down and jumped up. Using his momentum, Icarth tried to knee Sefir in the face.
Catching the knee instinctively, Sefir left his back completely open.
Raising his claws, Icarth tried to bring them down right before he found himself falling backward.
Twisting out of Sefir's grip, Icarth landed on his feet a small distance away.
Sefir stood up once more and took a fluid stance once more.
Icarth channeled his universal energy, a wild smile creeping up on his face.
'Fun.' Icarth thought with delight.
Although one could argue that Icarth was losing, Icarth was truly having the time of his life.
Seeing this Sefir switched his stance once more.
This was going to be his last effort to win this spar.
A light film of universal energy gathered around Sefir and he dropped his stance.
Icarth frowned slightly but didn't say anything.
His eyes glowed and the world bleached once more.
The red blot was concentrated in the shape of Sefir, getting darker by the second.
Icarth gulped, not in fear, but in excitement.
Sporting a full-on beastly grin, Icarth felt his claws get sharper and longer. He gathered power in his body as well waiting for the moment.
Both of them prepared themselves for what would be the last clash of the spar.
A gust of wind blew and Icarth shot forwards. This time faster than all the other times combined.
At a moment's notice, Icarth was in front of Sefir. Kneeing him in the stomach, Icarth bypassed Sefir's flimsy effort to block.
Sefir flew backward while Icarth stomped down once more and followed up with his claws.
Sefir caught the claws with both his hands, feeling their edges dig into his skin.
Unperturbed, Icarth kicked up, repeating what Sefir had done in their first clash.
Taking the kick, Sefir grunted in pain and wrenched Icarth's hands down. In the process, Sefir cut his hands on the claws as he applied force.
Moving his head back, Sefir slammed his head down and hit Icarth's head with a violent clash.
A loud sound echoed in the ground as Icarth was disoriented from the headbutt.
Taking the opportunity, Sefir let go of Icarth's claws and finally used the universal energy film that he had created.
Moving it to his fist, Sefir punched directly at Icarth's unguarded chest.
BOOM!
Icarth was flung back like a ragdoll, the power of the fist piercing through his body as he flew through the air.
Falling to the ground, Icarth landed rolling with a loud thud and kicking up a huge cloud of dust.
Sefir was still holding the same stance in which he had punched Icarth. His hands trembled violently, and sweat dripped down from his body.
Sefir felt his vision turn blurry from the pain that was pulsing from his fist.
'Stay down,' Sefir thought with hope. That punch contained Icarth's power and his own in it and was his last-ditch effort to win.
Unfortunately, when the wind blew once more, the dust cloud cleared revealing Icarth standing tall. Wiping the blood trickling out from his lips, Icarth grinned once more.
Flexing his claws, Icarth got ready to go for another round when Sefir called out with a sigh.
"Let's end it here. I give up."
"...What?" Icarth called out in a puzzled voice.
"I said, I'm done. That was my last move," Sefir replied bitterly.
Icarth pressed his lips together and his smile disappeared.
He released his transformation and returned to his normal self.
Rubbing his chest where Sefir had punched him, he walked up to Sefir who had just collapsed onto the ground in exertion.
"You're a monster you know that?" Sefir complained. Icarth had just tanked everything that Sefir had thrown at him.
Icarth didn't respond. While that was true, he didn't want to win like that. A sense of disappointment rooted itself in him as he extended his arm out to Sefir.
Taking it, Sefir winced as his hand flared up.
"Got cut?" Icarth asked.
"Yep. Fuck your claws," Sefir cursed as he stood up.
A faint smile sprung up on Icarth's face as he heard Sefir cursing.
Both boys, bruised and battered prepared to go back to the room when they saw another person waiting at the edge of the training ground.
A bright splotch of pink hair tied up by a bandana was looking at them at the edge of the training field with an impressed look on his face.
"Hey Vollax," Sefir called out after seeing the pink-haired boy.
Icarth just nodded his greeting.
"Hey guys," Vollax greeted back.
"What are you doing here?" Sefir asked curiously.
"Well, I was sleeping peacefully when I heard loud sounds coming from the training ground. And I thought to myself, which sort of idiots would want to train this early in the morning," Vollax smiled sarcastically at Sefir and Icarth.
"It was his idea," Icarth blamed Sefir immediately and stepped back.
"Oh really?" Vollax turned his attention to Sefir.
"Sorry," Sefir apologized as he glared at Icarth.
"Nevermind, I'll forgive you after that interesting fight," Vollax waved his hands and stood up. Without another word, Vollax just walked away back into the dorms.
"Do you think he was angry?" Sefir asked Icarth.
"Hmm," Icarth just hummed.
"Was that a yes or no?"
"Mmm," Icarth replied jumping out of the way of Sefir's punch.
