I placed my small pink purse in my brown leather bag and hung it on my shoulder. I just needed my glasses and I would be set for school. It was a fine morning, thorough was the order of the day.
Personally, I knew my dress sense was below per but who cares?. High school was full of fake people. As for me, I'm too broke for designers; I get my clothes from cheap malls.
It's way better than a thrift store. Who am I kidding?. They were all the same except for the unnecessary tags.
Grabbing a poptart from the kitchen cabinet, I set to head for school when some kid yelled my name disrespectfully.
I groaned. "What is D?"
D; short for Damian is my extremely annoying fourteen years old brother. I'm eighteen. That's four years difference and hello to adulthood.
Unlike me, Damian was quite the dresser. Well, thanks to the little money I earn for the both of us.
"I need cash"
"That is none of my concern D. I don't have money to give you"
He cast me a lame look. "You got payed last week Kenz"
"That's a thrilling reminder Damian". Note the sarcasm. "You could have also been payed last week if you had a job".
"Are you playing right now?. You told me not to get a job"
"Yes I did. You were 12. It's been two years. Get a freaking job"
"Well played Kenz"
Okay, now I felt bad. I didn't intend to go that far. I just wanted to tease him a little. I did tell him not to work because I didn't want him to. I was in a position to take care of both of us since our parents were both dead. That's a story I'm not in the mood to tell.
I sighed. "I'm kidding. How much do you need?"
"20?"
I took out my purse and scribbled out 20 dollar note. "Here's your 20 dollar. Don't do drugs"
He snatched the note as a small smile spread across his lips. "Cut it out nerd. Drugs are for losers".
He winked at me
I scrunched my nose feigning disgust. "Damian Salvatore Anderson, did you just wink at me?"
He headed to the door smiling. " I love you too nerd". He was out.
That's my cue. But damn, did I love that annoying teenager.
💦💦
"For the love of confectioneries, could you not dump that in your locker?" Lisa Williams, my five years best friend said as I dumped chocolate chips in my locker.
I chuckled and handed it to her. "Here you go"
"Thank you bestfriend".
I nodded " Hmmm".
Lisa was one of the coolest girls in the school. She attended parties and was into all the crazy stuffs they did in highschool plus she's a rich kid. Her parents are rich. Yet she was my bestfriend and I love her so much.
And we did make a pretty good team.
"Hey guess what," she started. I raised an eyebrow at her. She knew I wasn't going to guess. "C'mon you have to guess"
"Okayyyyyyy... you failed all your tests?"
" Haha very funny". she replied dryly. In a flash, she drifted back to excitement. "Guess again"
I groaned impatiently. "Just tell me"
" Kayden Haynes is back".
" Kayden what now?"
" Haynes. Hot guy? A million followers?. Doesn't ring a bell?"
"Nah. Rings nothing". I adjusted the rim of my glasses. "But I'll let you ponder about the guy while I head to class. I have chemistry"
" You're gonna miss when he comes in"
"Lisa, I don't care. This is so cliché for my liking"
" I like cliché"
" Good for you sweetie. I'll see you during lunch"
I blew her a kiss and she rolled her eyes at me. I don't care about Kayden I just wanted to be done with highschool.
💦💦
I found my spot in physics lab; at the far end of the class with my chemicals.
Our chem teacher, Mr Westwick arrived just as I had my seat. Luckily, they didn't exchange my chair with a broken one. Well of course, they did that last week and claimed it was a mistake.
"Good morning everyone" he greeted adjusting the rim of this glasses. He was a bald man with protruding stomach amongst his rather interesting qualities. "We'll start our morning with our previous topic. Chemical reactions..."
" I have a question" Vandi raised her hand.
Yes. Vandi. The captain of the cheerleading team and the obvious queen of the school. Just like me, she was smart but bitchy when she wanted to be. But I could bet a hundred dollar she was going to say something stupid and totally unrelated. She was sassy like that.
Westwick sighed. "I hope what you're about to say is worth Interrupting me, miss Miller".
Sh gave a smug smile. Oh no, something really savage was coming on. "Could chemical reactions be the cause of Kenzy's worn our sweater?"
The whole class exploded into an uproar of laughter.
I rolled my eyes. "Very funny Vandi". I said dryly.
She blew me a kiss. "Sue me for saying the truth sweetheart".
I rolled my eyes for the umpteenth time.
"Okay. Now that has been achieved, shall we continue with the topic at hand..."
The door flew open again interrupting him. Boy, today is not just his day.
I tilted my head towards the figure that walked in. I really do hope I have the right to admire God's creation because this creation that just walked in was an epitome of everything beautiful; blue eyes, dark hair, tanned skin. Why didn't Lisa say he was all this.
No wonder why girls and guys were eager to see him.
"Mr Haynes, show's over. Go have a seat so I can continue with my class that has been Interrupted twice".
The only empty seat in the lab was beside me. That was were he sat. Vandi turned to look at him. She waved and whispered a "hi".
He responded with a smile.
I rolled my eyes. Why do I keep doing that?
I adjusted my glasses in an attempt not to look at him.
I could feel him staring at me.
"Do I need to give you a dollar before you'd stop staring?"
The class stared at me. Didn't realize I was that loud. Kayden smirked.
"How about a hundred?"
"How about common sense?" I fired. Kenzy, that wasn't necessary.
He placed his hand on his chest dramatically. " Touché"
"Mr Haynes, do you have something to share with the class?. Seems like you're into it with Miss Anderson"
"I'm good Warwick. Just me and chicà having a little discussion"
"It's Westwick and you have detention".
He gave a small smile. " Way to start my Monday".
