Chapter 30 - finally a nice day

The third day since the intense battle with the corrupted souls dawned bright and clear. Sam and his friends decided to take a break from the turmoil and chaos, opting for a much-needed moment of respite. Max had a brilliant idea – a small picnic in one of Arcadia's beautiful parks.

As they gathered their supplies for the picnic, Sam couldn't help but feel grateful for the support and camaraderie of his friends. The events of the past few days had been taxing, and this picnic was a welcome opportunity to recharge both physically and mentally.

They spread out their blankets under the shade of a large oak tree, laughing and joking as they savoured the simple joys of friendship. John, always the jokester, managed to get some tasty snacks , much to everyone's delight.

Max, with his natural leadership qualities, organized some friendly games that had them all laughing and competing in good spirits. The sound of their laughter echoed through the park, drawing the curious glances of passersby.

The crow, always watchful, perched nearby, its eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger. Sam knew that even in moments of relaxation, they had to remain vigilant. The city was still in a state of flux, and dark forces lurked in the shadows.

As the day wore on, Sam's energy-monitor earrings displayed a reassuring message: [mental energy level recovering]. The restful atmosphere of the picnic was doing wonders for his mental reserves, helping him regain the clarity he needed to continue his battles.

During a light-hearted game of frisbee, Sam noticed a familiar face approaching their picnic spot. It was an invitation from the Bone Hunters Guild, a renowned S-Rank organization of skilled individuals who specialized in dealing with rogue awakeners and saving people from dangerous awakenings. They were known for their neutrality and didn't normally recruit new members. But they had sent a special invitation to Sam.

The invitation intrigued and puzzled Sam. He wasn't sure why they sought him out, but the prospect of joining their ranks intrigued him. The Bone Hunters Guild had a prestigious reputation for their impartiality and unwavering dedication to protecting the innocent and maintaining peace in the city.

Max noticed the conflicted expression on Sam's face and approached him with a reassuring smile. "Sam, getting an invitation from the Bone Hunters Guild is a big deal! They don't recruit just anyone. They must see something special in you."

Sam nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and uncertainty. "It's an incredible opportunity, but I also feel a strong sense of responsibility towards Light and myself. I need some time to think it over."

The rest of the picnic continued in high spirits, but Sam's mind was occupied with thoughts of the Bone Hunters Guild. He knew that joining them could open up new opportunities and resources to protect Light and himself, but it also came with its own set of challenges and responsibilities.

That night, as Sam lay in bed, he looked at the energy-monitor earrings. The mental energy level had recovered further, but the physical energy level was still low, displaying [physical energy level 20% and slowly recovering]. The strain of the battles and the emotional rollercoaster had taken a toll on his body.

Amidst his contemplation, his phone rang, and he saw it was Luther Demonheart calling. Curious, he answered the call.

"Sam," Luther's voice echoed through the line, "I heard about the Bone Hunters Guild's invitation. They're an esteemed organization, and their interest in you speaks volumes about your abilities."

Sam was taken aback by Luther's knowledge of the invitation. "Thank you, Mr. Demonheart. I'm honoured, but I'm still unsure about my decision. I don't want to abandon Light and myself..."

Luther's voice softened, "I understand your concerns, Sam. Let me assure you that the Demonheart family and partly Max's family have already provided full sponsorship for your future endeavours. Should you choose to join the Bone Hunters Guild, we would fully support your decision."

Sam felt a mix of relief and gratitude. The weight of financial burden and the need to protect Light and himself eased with Luther's words. It was a gesture of genuine support that he hadn't expected.

"Thank you, Mr. Demonheart. Your support means a lot to me," Sam replied sincerely.

"The pleasure is mine, Sam. Just remember, this is your journey, and the decision should come from your heart. Whatever path you choose, we believe in you," Luther said warmly before bidding farewell.

Sam hung up the call, feeling a renewed sense of determination. He knew that the days ahead would be filled with tough choices and difficult battles, but he also knew that he had a network of support and the strength of his friends to guide him through.

With the crow as his silent ally and the support of Max, John, and the Demonheart family, Sam felt a newfound sense of purpose and strength. The path ahead would be arduous, but he was ready to embrace it, knowing that he wasn't alone in this battle for the soul of Arcadia.

And so, they left for Havens Gate the next day, a journey that marked the beginning of a new chapter in Sam's life. As he embarked on his path to becoming a student of Havens Gate, the mysteries of the city and the challenges that lay ahead awaited him.

But Sam was not afraid. With his newfound purpose, the support of his friends, and the wisdom of the crow, he was ready to face whatever the future had in store. The Bone Emperor's journey continued, his heart filled with the light of determination, and his spirit guided by the wisdom of the crow. The city of Arcadia awaited its protector, and Sam was ready to answer the call, for Light, for himself, and for the greater good of the city he had come to love.
