Luna's eyes slowly opened to the sound of her phone ringing, feeling groggy and disoriented from deep sleep. The dim light filtering in through the curtains painted her room with shades of blue and purple.
The high-pitched ringtone echoed through her sensitive werewolf ears like an explosion, making her jump and sit upright in bed. She fumbled for her phone on the nightstand, her fingers searching blindly for the source of the noise.
Finally, she found it and picked it up, the light from the screen casting a soft glow across her face. As she swiped to answer, her mind still clouded with drowsiness, the room fell silent once more.
"Hello?" she muttered, still half-asleep.
"Luna! Oh my god, it's so good to hear your voice!" Her best friend's voice came through the phone, high-pitched and filled with excitement. Luna couldn't help but smile, her annoyance at being woken up fading away at the sound of her friend's cheerful tone.
"Rachel, what time is it?" Luna grumbled, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
"Sorry, sorry, I know it's early," Rachel said. "But I'm in the country! I flew in last night and I would love it if you could come pick me up from the airport and bring me back to town."
Luna sighed, suddenly wide awake. Rachel was the only human friend she had, and their friendship had endured through thick and thin.
Luna had always been wary of letting anyone get too close, but Rachel had broken down her walls with her infectious laughter and unwavering loyalty.
"Of course I'll come get you," Luna said, already mentally preparing for the drive. "What time does your flight get in?"
"Nine o'clock," Rachel said. "I'll text you the details. Thank you, Luna. You're the best friend a girl could ask for."
Luna chuckled despite herself. Rachel had always been impulsive and unpredictable, a stark contrast to Luna's slightly reserved nature.
"I'll be there," Luna promised. "Just give me an hour to get ready."
"Thanks, Luna. I can't wait to see you!" Rachel said before hanging up.
Luna smiled, feeling her chest swell with pride. Rachel was the only human she had ever been able to truly connect with, the only one who didn't fear her wolf side.
They had been friends since childhood, and even though Luna had gone through her own personal struggles, her friend had always been there for her.
As she hung up the phone, Luna let out a low growl of frustration. She had been looking forward to sleeping in, but the prospect of seeing Rachel again made it all worth it.
She swung her legs out of bed and stretched, her wolf senses already tingling with anticipation.
As she got dressed, Luna couldn't help but think back to the day she had first met Rachel. It had been a chance encounter in a coffee shop, and Rachel's bright smile and bubbly personality had drawn Luna in like a moth to a flame.
Luna had never expected to find a friend in a human, but Rachel had proved her wrong time and time again.
Luna quickly made her way out of her apartment, the crisp morning air biting at her skin. She got into her car and drove towards the airport, her mind racing with thoughts of what she and her friend would do once they were together again.
By the time Luna arrived at the airport, her nerves had settled and she was all smiles as she spotted Rachel's familiar face in the crowd.
Rachel was clutching a large suitcase and grinning from ear to ear, looking as if she hadn't aged a day since they had last seen each other.
"Hey there, stranger," Luna said, enveloping Rachel in a tight hug.
"I missed you so much!" Rachel said, hugging her back just as tightly. "You have no idea how excited I am to be here."
Luna smiled, feeling a sense of warmth spread through her chest, the familiarity of their embrace making Luna feel like no time had passed at all.
As Luna drove, she couldn't help but notice how Rachel's eyes lit up with excitement as they passed by familiar landmarks and buildings.
The city had changed a lot since the last time Rachel had visited, but Luna could tell that Rachel was just as enamored with it as ever.
"So, tell me," Rachel said, breaking the comfortable silence between them. "What's new with you? And how's the pack?"
Luna sighed, her mind racing with all the things she had been dealing with lately. "The pack is.... good," she said, choosing her words carefully.
Rachel was just back in town and she didn't want to talk about Samantha's death, her mission to take down Damian, and how handsome and attractive she find him; well, at least not yet.
"A little bit of hunting and some pack business, you know how it gets with my father as the Alpha."
Rachel nodded sympathetically. "I can imagine. But I know you'll handle stuff like a boss, as always."
Luna smiled gratefully, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "Thanks, Rach. So, what about you? How's life been treating you?"
Rachel's face lit up. "Oh, you know me. Same old, same old. Just been working and traveling a bit."
Luna raised an eyebrow. "Traveling? Where have you been?"
Rachel leaned back in her seat, a dreamy look on her face. "Oh, all over the place. I went to Bali last year, and then I went to Japan a few months ago. It was incredible."
Luna felt a pang of jealousy as she imagined Rachel exploring exotic locales and trying new foods, while she stayed behind for the pack. She had always been a bit envious of Rachel's adventurous spirit, but she couldn't help but admire her for it.
"That sounds amazing, even though you didn't send a single postcard." Luna said wistfully. "I've always wanted to travel more."
Rachel grinned. "Well, sorry about that. I thought you weren't interested in those stuffs. Maybe we can plan a trip together someday. There are so many places I still want to see."
Luna smiled, feeling her heart warm at the thought of going on an adventure with her best friend. "That would be incredible," she said.
As they continued chatting and catching up on each other's lives, Luna couldn't help but feel grateful for Rachel's presence in her life.
Yet, she couldn't wait to discuss all recent event with Rachel.
'Patience, Luna.' she told herself, taking a deep breath.
*********
Days went by and Isabella still couldn't shake off the fear and shock that had gripped her during Damian's sudden outburst. She had never seen him like this before, so cold and serious.
'It all started since Alex and those other two idiots were attacked' she remembered.
Ever since, there has been a sense of protectiveness in his demeanor, a need to shield her from harm. It made her wonder what had caused Damian to be so protective of Luna.
She tried to push the thought out of her head, knowing that her focus should be on making things right with Damian. She knew she had pushed him too far, testing the limits of their dynamic.
She needed to go back to how it used to be, show him that she was still committed to him, that she was still his submissive.
Isabella decided to take a risk and try to please Damian in the bedroom. She knew he had a weakness for submission and obedience, and she was willing to give it to him.
She made her way to their bedroom, lighting candles and dimming the lights. She put on the lingerie he had given her, a red lace ensemble that hugged her curves perfectly. She lay down on the bed, waiting for him to arrive.
When Damian walked in, he paused for a moment, taking in the sight before him. Isabella could feel her heart pounding in her chest as he slowly made his way to the bed, his eyes locked onto hers.
"Are you trying to please me?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
"Yes, Master," Isabella replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Good," he said, climbing onto the bed and hovering over her. "I like a good submissive. Show me what you can do."
