Chapter 1 - Prologue

In a world where humans are the most predominant species beloved by the gods, there was naturally no room for abominations like vampires, witches, and werewolves. Throughout history, there were indeed incidences of such mysterious and sinister entities being spotted living among the common folk.

This prompted the classical early modern Europe and colonial America 1450 to 1750 witch hunts. The frenzy of vampire sightings in Eastern Europe in the eighteenth century, with frequent stakings and killings of potential revenants. And the werewolf trials in the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries,

But if such mysterious beings that couldn't co-exist with humans truly existed why were their numbers low? Shouldn't they have been multiplying and outrunning the human race conquering the vast planes? The key to that answer is the very first sentence.

Humans were beloved by the gods, witches were deemed as sexually unrestrained and predatory, vampires were undead harmful creatures while werewolves were a by-product of Zeus's punishment to Lycaon and his sons after Lycaon served the chief Greek deity one of his fifty sons for dinner as a test.

With such dark sinister characteristics, how could humans co-exist with such creatures? The underworld wasn't an option either considering that Hades would use them to achieve some kind of diabolical plan and possibly recruit them to do some not-so-legal shit.

Thus it was up to Kronos, the ruler of the cosmos, to find a place for these rejects that didn't quite conform to the world of humans because of their savage and ruthless nature.

Hence a world like Thanatos, a place best suited for such abominations. Thanatos consisted of five major continents which were unequally divided among the vampires, werewolves, and witches populous. Two belonged to the witches and the other two belonged to the vampires.

The last continent, the continent of Odessa belonged to the werewolves. The origin of these werewolves were the descendants of Lycaon whom over thousands upon thousands of years had slaughtered each other.

As their numbers dwindled they formed various packs with the major ones being Oenotrus, Aseatas, Lycius, Daseatas, and Macednus who claimed to be the direct bloodline of the first werewolf, Lycaon.

Because of their desire to rule and be on top of the food chain, there was no unity among the packs. Hence the saying 'divide and conquer' was demonstrated.

Countless times the rich continent with untapped wealth was stormed by witches and vampires as war broke out on the shores of the continent.

Packs at the borderline of Odessa suffered extreme losses when war broke out. In times of war when the enemy invaded Odessa in droves a blood bath would ensue infusing with the soil and trees.

A revolting stench of blood spread across the continent draining the life essence from the land. This weakened the defenses along the borderline of Odessa but the enemy never advanced further inland because that was the hub of the most powerful packs. Well, that is when they weren't fighting among themselves.

What should be a eutopia for werewolves, a place they could freely unleash their true nature and run wildly with the breeze brushing past their fur had turned into hunting grounds for both internal and external forces.
