Chapter 139 - Reluctant Heroine 3

"Light magic: Divine realm of protection," I casted my spell.

I sometimes forget a few of my spells, and the spell I casted just now was one of them. If Chester did not attack me with magic back then, I wouldn't be able to remember it for a long time.

Divine realm of protection is one of my stronger barriers. However, it's only useful in certain scenarios. For one, it's not effective in one on one battles because of its wide range. Even less favorably, it can only deflect magic attacks and nothing else. It's formidable, but it can easily be bypassed.

My only reason for casting it is to protect the town from stray spells -- not the spells coming from the enemy, but from the wider range of offensive spells I might decide to use. As far as I can see, there were only a few magic casters among the goblin and troll variants at the back of the enemy formation. They won't be any threat, and their spells might dissipate first before it reach the town with their far off distance.

"Well then!"

While Marcus and Nolan were panicking about the tall transparent sphere that suddenly enveloped the town, I once again went off on my own.

Using wind magic, I glided to the ground where the melee knights and adventurers were. They acted surprised when they saw me, but they immediately maintained their cool when they realized I was an ally.

Among the adventurers were the trio - Kai, Erika, and Harry. They hurriedly called out to me, but I only briefly winked and waved a hand at them.

"H-Hey! Eria-san! What are you!?"

"Hey, you! Where do you think you're going!?"

Ignoring everyone's attempts to stop me, I quickly left the area and dashed towards the enemy.

"Sigh... I didn't want to stand out, but I don't have any choice..." I weakly sighed.

A moment later, I was able to get close to my target. I stood on a small empty hill, my figure clearly sighted by both sides, my allies and the monsters ahead alike. The closes monsters ahead of me looked confused at my sudden appearance, but none of looked frightened or were panicking.

A lone figure suddenly appearing in front of them won't truly make them alert. Logically, there's really no reason for them to, they have the advantage in numbers after all.

Some of the goblins ahead were even starting to lick their lips at the sight of me, realizing immediately that I'm a woman. They obviously don't see me as a threat.

"Kekekeke!"

Even from a considerable distance, I can hear their mocking laughter.

"Now what should I do...?" I quietly mumble.

There's just too many enemies to deal with all at once. With this much of them clustered together, my sword won't be too effective at all. I supposed it's best to use magic and cull their number first.

"Umu," I nodded satisfyingly to myself.

With clear intention in mind, I used one of my spells with the widest range.

"Fire magic: Incinerate..."
