Chapter 74 - The New Lewd Elf In Town 2

A Basilisk can turn people who has low resistant to magic into stone. They are strong enough on their own, their physical attributes are already way above the common monster, but their petrification ability makes them the most dangerous. Mostly because of it, that they are ranked as a B tier threat.

Root is a big town, and it has many adventurers in its command, but I doubt there is a single individual here who can defeat it on his own. At the very least, the guild would need to have one adventurer party who ranks B or above to tackle it. If they don't, then they would need to assemble a group of C rank adventurer parties to subjugate it instead.

However, adventurer parties rarely work with each other. They don't like sharing the credit after all. Because of that, none of them have grouped up yet to take on the Basilisk, and it's been left not being taken cared of for months already. For that reason, I decided to take it in my own hands to defeat it.

As I arrived in the Basilisk' lair, inside a cave system that's illuminated by blue and purple crystals, I found a number of broken statues of people. They are the victim of its ability. There is no saving them now...

When I went even deeper into the cave, I finally found the green Basilisk. The glowing crystals on the walls allow me to see it clearly. As expected, its appearance is quite similar to a lizard's. With its body curved into a ball, it was still sleeping.

Since I don't want to waste any more time, I decided that I will kill it in one strike. Before it even wakes up, I'm going to defeat it.

With that being said, I infused magic into my sword, turning it to shine even brighter than the crystals that lit the caves.

No matter how tough a monster's hide or skin is, it won't survive a hit from my magic-infused sword. I can confidently say that it's as strong as a hero's special attack - it can cut anything.

As expected, the Basilisk notices the sudden appearance of the blinding light and it woke up. However, it was too late...

With a single swing, I cut its neck clean.

"Fufufu..." I laugh quietly.

At the moment, I'm riding at the back of a small wagon that's going straight back to Root. On my lap, I'm holding a small box that contains my loot. What's inside it is the corpse of the Basilisk I just defeated. I used Mass Morph on it, a spell that can temporarily effect the size of anything that's within a certain range of mass, after which, I casted ice magic on it again to prevent it from deteriotating. Mass Morph is a spell that was taught to me by the fairies... It's specially useful to me as an adventurer, since I can use it to transport the bodies of the monsters I defeat.

To be honest, using the space magic, Pocket Dimension, could be more useful, but even for myself, it's extremely hard to use. I can only use it to store smaller objects, like clothes, armour and weapons, and my sack of coins.

"Did anything good happen, miss? I can see you're all smiles," the coachman in front of the wagon comments.

"Am I? Fufu... well, I'm just enjoying the scenery..."

I savored the wind that was blowing on my face. Along with the beautiful view of the grass fields and the clear blue sky.

"This really is a fantasy world..."

With its beautiful locations, wondrous and monstrous creatures, and unimaginable mysteries. This world is so vast and interesting, that it just never gets boring.

"What was that now, miss?"

"It was nothing..."
