Chapter 18 - An Untold Darkness

Torma..

I looked at Levi, he looked serious but I couldn't help but laugh.

'Of course Goré is alive..' I rolled my eyes. 'Just like all trees!'

My laughter didn't die until Levi stopped the car.

'You find that funny? Of course all trees are alive! And we can't cut all that exist, right?' Levi looked at me straight in the eyes. 'With that Goré can transfer it's spiritual core to another tree where it can continue to reside..but now that you are here.. Goré wants humanity, Goré wants you to house it's spiritual core so you can be it's human body!'

I paused taking that in.

'Still find it funny?' Levi resumed the drive. I leaned back in the seat and looked back at the sky.

It was getting covered up by dark clouds, I sat up in shock.

I looked at Levi, he didn't seem to care to see. I guessed it was normal then.

The journey back home got more boring with the raining that fell, I fell asleep.

Immediately I closed my eyes, I saw a girl my age staring directly at me in the dark. How I saw her? I don't know.

She was gorgeous. Her green eyes glistened at me, her pert nose scrunched up due to her wide pearl white smile contrasting with her thin pink lips.

She held out her folded hand and I looked at it. She opened her hand and I saw pieces of a dried leaf on it.

I looked back at her and she smiled before blowing them onto my face.

Œtre œ Œtre. She laughed when my eyes closed to prevent the pieces from entering my eyes. When they opened, the girl was no longer before me but that old lady. She had no eyes still but she was greyer and she stinked.

Her cackles scared the shit out of me. I yelled never stopping.

Yelling eventually woke me up, I pulled away from Levi and Danielle. They looked at me worried.

I attempted to get out of the car but I was pulled back by Levi.

I noticed it was another car, it wasn't beaten up like the one we had. It was fancy, looked new but I knew it wasn't.

It was just well cared for. It was Levi's or at least I thought.

'I have put everything you'd need into your bags.' She spoke to me, I looked at her quietly.

'Levi will take good care of you_'

'Isn't that what parents say before they abandon their kids!' I felt a tear roll down my cheek.

She pulled me into a hug.

'Don't say that!' She sniffled on my shoulder. I held her tightly.

'Mom..I am sorry!' I cried even louder. I couldn't let her go without apologizing.

'Hush..' She stroked my head. 'Be good!'

She pulled away forcing a laugh. I couldn't see how red her face was. She didn't want to cry more.

I looked at Levi and he offered me a sad smile.

'We should get going..but after you do!' He spoke to Danielle. Just then I realized that the house was dark and the front door closed. The car was on and warming up.

I looked at her.

'I'll visit!' She kissed my forehead and dashed for the car. She got it and closed the door. I saw her waving at us.

I waved back feeling a wail leave my throat. I couldn't help but cry again.

She pulled out of the compound and drove off. Levi followed from behind and when we got to the tarmac. I saw her turn the other way from us.

I looked back at the car leaving and then at Levi. He was quiet.

'Why don't you take a nap?..the journey is going to be long!' He suggested. I remembered my dream and decided not to.

He sighed and accelerated.

I watched us taking similar routes for almost hours but didn't say anything about it.

I kept looking at Levi wondering if he knew where we were going. I crossed my hands over my chest and cleared my throat.

'If you don't want to show me the secret passage to your kingdom..you should have just told me!' I looked at him through squinted eyes.

He laughed forcefully.

'Come on.. it's not that..I just_' He paused when I moved my squinted eyes closer to his face. He stiffened under the scrutiny, I knew he'd wanted to lie.

He cleared his throat when we made the nth turn. That impact of that made me lean closer so when he looked back in front, my lips brushed against his cheek. Dangerously close to his lips.

I shot back shocked.

'Omg..I am sorry!' I dove into the back and opened the side of my bag. I had a bathroom bag there, I picked out some facial wipes and came back in front.

I wiped the side of his face vigorously not minding that he was driving.

He growled in attempt to stop me but I didn't. He stopped the car instantly and I fell forward hitting my head on the windscreen.

'Oww!' I sat back in my sit rubbing my head. Levi resumed driving with a smirk of content on his face.

'Fathers usually care for their daughters..not hurt them!' I grumbled.

He sighed. 'I am not your father!'

'Well you certainly wanted to be..and at this rate you might become..' I tossed the used wipe in the back. 'I mean..dad is definitely lost and mom is leaving me with you..she might just move in with you the next time I see her!'

I folded my arms across my chest in frustration.

Levi unexpectedly stopped in front of a small oak. I smirked recognizing it.

He rolled his eyes, I didn't dare bring it up.

A bunch of vines stretched forward and begun wrapping the car. I yelled struggling to open the door and when it finally opened, I tripped out embracing the sharp pain on my knees.

My knees hit the cottony grounds immediately I didn't feel any pain.

Levi strolled towards me snickering. 'You should've seen the look on your face!'

I held out my hand for him but he just walked past me.

I groaned and helped myself up. I dusted myself.

'A little heads up would have really been generous!' I grumbled inhaling a mild sombre flowery scent.

I stood in a completely unrecognizable place. Trees peppered the place in captivatingly gruesome colours, holding onto whichever flower the breeze failed to swipe. The fugitives recklessly rode the breeze stirring up a subtle feeling in me.

Where we stood was Levxe, enveloped by mosses, no grass yet. The subtle feeling became prominent and I was enveloped by an unsettling feeling, one that left my insides in turmoil. I didn't like the moss vibe, probably from the encounter with Goré.

I couldn't even tell the position of the sun due to the evened out hue of the sky, and it wasn't the bubbly sky blue like that back home. It was more pessimistic.

There wasn't a single cloud except for what appeared to be a light mist a distance above us. It got colder with every passing second, not due to a drop in temperature. It was that spine-chilling feeling, it was growing fast on me.

A sinister aura overwhelmed the air. I felt it's presence beckoning me, I fought the urge to conform but my neck was forced backwards. I stared into the sky stripped of whatever right I had; I felt exposed, vulnerable, left in jeopardy.

Whatever it was, it was good at playing with the visuals. Eye tricks. I wasn't stupid, a drop of red in a sea of blue didn't mean it was still blue. Something changed, something small and it was enough. This sinister presence lurked behind the sensations of colour, waiting for everyone to drop their guar_

I giggled when I saw a moon sprout. No two moons. No three and it was day-bright!

'Preettttyyyy!' I laughed gushing childishly. Pointing at each, I counted them to make sure.

I didn't care this was the happiest I've ever been, I loved this place. Especially the moons.

Mountain ranges were beautifully displayed at the furthest end and one was tainted white. It wasn't a peak. Didn't look like one from where I stood, looked great though.

My attention was again taken by dazzling butterflies, they danced around mesmerizingly from side to side in attempt to oppose the wind.

A third of the butterflies was gone when a I blinked, and another. I gasped. A pair of Ravens flew by swiftly swallowing them to utter disappearance.

I sighed watching them drift off to the sky fading in the mist. I looked at the sky getting a subtle feeling, I couldn't recognize why I didn't trust this place. I was being that paranoid bitch again I guess. Something told me every event had a twisted dark agenda_

Bees.. A swarm of_

Bees?

I quickly leaped behind Levi, who seemed irritated by that, hiding.

'Get off!' He pulled away, the impact making me land on my knees. The moss was soft though.

'Okay? Jerk!' I sneered at him getting up and dusting my knees.

'What is your problem clinging onto me?' He scowled, for some reason he was angry.

'I was hiding!' I pointed at the bees unable to understand how unusually stripped they were. Like the tropical tigers. 'I am deathly_'

'Allergic to bees.' Levi finished quite softly that he managed to earn my attention. He smirked. 'You really are her daughter!'

'Well duh..' I huffed almost sarcastically, angrily moving away. 'You finally figured it out! My true identity! How ever could I find out!' I gasped feigning realization and shock.

Levi rolled his eyes.

Just then, the whole flower shower intensified. It was getting harder to see through the colliding leaves and flowers, even Levi was oddly silent.

'Oh shit!' I cussed under my breath when I caught a glimpse of a group of wolves; big and small running towards us, I gulped.

The wolves quickly turned into naked humans that approached us. I froze from the sight, I didn't hide that I was staring.

'Your Highness!' They bowed at Levi then.. 'Your grace!' ..at me.

I remained frozen.
