Chapter 1 - Crestview Academy

The world of Crestview Academy was a dazzling spectacle of advanced technology and towering skyscrapers, a neon-lit metropolis that hummed with the energy of a thousand machines. Holographic billboards advertised the latest fashion trends and futuristic gadgets, while giant digital touch screens displayed news updates and weather forecasts. The streets were filled with sleek, high-speed cars and advanced train systems that whisked commuters from one end of the city to the other in a matter of minutes.

Kenji Dior, a well-known delinquent, stepped off the train platform and stepped onto the crowded street, his sharp features scanning the throngs of people for familiar faces. Regardless of his muscular build and handsome looks, his short black hair always styled messily, and his dark piercing eyes seemed to hold a dangerous glint, which made female students at Crestview Academy fear him instead of finding him attractive. His two twinkling gold earrings did little to soften his image. However, some of the male students were in awe of his chiseled physique and no-nonsense attitude, and they held him in high regard. He strutted with a cocksure swagger that broadcasted his confidence and arrogance, making it clear to everyone that saw him that Kenji was not to be messed with.

Kenji made his way through the throng of students, his gaze drawn to the towering skyscraper that loomed ahead: "Crestview Academy". The school was a towering monolith of glass and steel, a testament to the power and prestige of the institution. Kenji had been warned that the entrance exams were some of the most difficult in the country, but he was determined to get in. He had a goal, and nothing would stand in his way.

As he approached the entrance, a holographic display flickered to life, illuminating his face with a blue glow. "Welcome, 2nd year - Kenji Dior," a mechanical voice intoned. "Please scan your identification chip."

Kenji held out his wrist, and a small device embedded in his skin beeped in response. A green light flashed, and the doors slid open with a hiss of compressed air.

Inside, the school was a marvel of modern technology. The walls were lined with giant touchscreens that displayed everything from class schedules to cafeteria menus. Holographic projections of teachers and students drifted through the hallways, offering tips and advice to newcomers. Kenji couldn't help but feel a sense of awe as he made his way to the school's entrance ceremony inside the auditorium. Kenji felt a sense of anticipation in his chest. This was it, he thought. This was the start of a new chapter in his life.

As Kenji reached for the door, a thunderous voice echoed through the hallways, "HEY YOU THERE!"

Kenji turned around to see a man in a suit staring daggers at him. "Huh, Me?" Kenji asked.

"YES YOU!" The man frustratingly replied.

"Sorry, but who the hell are you?" Kenji asked again, puzzled.

The man sneered, "TSKKK. Students these days really don't respect their elders. How dare you talk to me like that on the first day of school?!?! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!?!"

Kenji retorted, "No? That's why I asked you who you are in the first place? Are you dumb?"

The man's rage intensified, "Not only have you broken the dress code, but you also talked back to me like I'm some kind of old fool!"

Kenji rolled his eyes, "But you are one."

Infuriated, the man bellowed, "THAT'S IT! You're coming with me to detention."

"Ah shit... so he's actually someone who works in this school" Kenji muttered under his breath.

"What was that?!?!"

Kenji shook his head and replied, "Nothing..."

Together they trudged towards the detention center, where Kenji would spend time there for an undetermined length. As a result, he would certainly miss the entrance ceremony for new students at the auditorium.

Kenji sarcastically chuckled to himself, "What a way to start my first day."

**********

*BRIIINNNGGG*

As the bell rang, Kenji leaned nonchalantly against his locker, observing the flurry of students scurrying past him. They were all in a hurry, their arms laden with books and laptops, eyes glued to their screens. It was the first day of the new school year at Crestview Academy, and Kenji was the fresh transfer student who had already landed himself in detention.

He looked down at his attire, a black blazer and pants, a long white shirt hanging loosely over an untucked hemline, and a necktie that was barely cinched under an open hoodie. He wondered how long it would take before he'd be hauled in again if he broke the school's dress code in another time. Kenji had always been someone who struggled to follow rules, and he knew Crestview Academy was going to be a real challenge for him in this regard.

As he walked down the hallway, he noticed the looks he was getting from the other students. Some of them were curious, while others seemed to be judging him. Kenji had a reputation for being a troublemaker, and he could tell that the other students were already forming opinions about him.

He stopped in front of a classroom, and a girl who was passing by looked at him and said, "You're in the wrong class. This is for Crestview 2nd year students only."

Kenji raised an eyebrow. "I know what class this is. I'm supposed to be here."

The girl looked surprised. "Really? You don't look like the type who would be in this class."

Kenji shrugged. "Looks can be deceiving."

The girl smiled and walked away, and Kenji entered the classroom. The teacher was already there, writing something on the board. Kenji took a seat at the back, hoping to avoid attention.

The teacher turned around and looked at him. "Ah, you must be our new transfer student. Please introduce yourself to the class."

"Ah shit..." Kenji mumbled.

He then stood up from his seat and gave a curt nod. "My name is Kenji Dior, and I just transferred here from a different school. Nice to meet you all," he said in a nonchalant tone.

The teacher nodded. "Welcome to Crestview Academy, Mr. Dior. I hope you'll find our school to your liking."

The class murmured greetings back, and Kenji sat down, feeling the weight of their stares on him. He could tell that he was already the topic of conversation among the students.

Throughout the class, Kenji couldn't help but notice that the girl who had spoken to him earlier kept glancing his way. She had long, black hair that fell in soft waves around her face and big, brown eyes that seemed to sparkle with intelligence. Kenji had to admit, she was pretty, but he could sense a kind of disdain in the way she looked at him, as if he was a nuisance.

After class ended, Kenji gathered his things and left the room. As he walked down the hall, he heard footsteps behind him. He turned around to see the girl from earlier walking towards him.

"Hey, I'm sorry if I sounded rude earlier. I just assumed that you were in the wrong class," she said, her voice softening.

"It's fine," Kenji said with a shrug. "I get that a lot."

They walked together in silence for a few moments before the girl spoke up again. "I'm Miyuki, by the way. Miyuki Liston."

"Kenji," he replied.

"So, Kenji, why did you transfer to Crestview Academy? It's not exactly an easy school to get into," Miyuki asked, looking genuinely curious.

Kenji hesitated for a moment before answering. "Let's just say that I had some... issues at my old school. I needed a fresh start."

Miyuki nodded, understanding in her eyes. "Well, if you ever need any help with anything, don't hesitate to ask. I'm one of the top students in our grade, so I know my way around here pretty well."

"Thanks, but I don't need any help," Kenji said, his tone clipped.

Miyuki frowned slightly but didn't press the matter. They parted ways, and Kenji made his way to his next class, feeling a strange mix of irritation and gratitude towards the girl.

As the day went on, Kenji found himself struggling to keep up with the advanced curriculum. He had never been the studious type, and the material at Crestview was far more challenging than anything he had ever encountered before. He could feel his frustration growing with each passing minute, and he knew that he needed to figure out a way to catch up if he wanted to succeed.

After his last class, Kenji made his way to the library, hoping to find some textbooks that could help him get ahead. As he walked through the aisles, he suddenly heard a helpless voice.

"I thought I told you to stay away from me!" A gruff voice growled.

Kenji turned to see a group of rough-looking guys surrounding a small, trembling boy, who was backed against a bookshelf. Without a second thought, Kenji sauntered towards the group.

"What's going on here?" Kenji asked, his tone dripping with arrogance.

One of the guys sneered at him. "None of your business, pretty boy."

Kenji smirked, amused by their ignorance. He strode towards the group, ignoring their warnings.

"Leave him alone. Now." He commanded, his voice full of authority.

The guys exchanged glances, but their cockiness prevailed. He launched himself at the closest guy, throwing a punch that connected with a satisfying thud. The guy stumbled backwards, surprised by the sudden attack. The others quickly joined in the fight, and soon Kenji found himself surrounded by a group of angry, aggressive guys. But he didn't back down. He used his quick reflexes and martial arts training to dodge their blows and land his own punches and kicks. The fight was intense and fast-paced. Kenji could feel his heart pounding in his chest as he traded blows with the guys just like in the old times.

The smaller boy watched in awe as Kenji took on the bullies with ease. Kenji was like a god, a being so far above their petty existence that they were powerless to stop him.

Finally, after what felt like hours, the fight came to a close. Kenji stood victorious, his opponents nursing their injuries to the surrounding ground. He glanced at the small boy, who was now standing next to him.

"Oi you, Are you alright?" Kenji asked, his voice laced with smug satisfaction.

The boy nodded, a look of admiration in his eyes. "Thank you so much, I owe you one... I suppose those guys won't be bothering me anymore."

Kenji grinned arrogantly, basking in his own glory. "Well, You're God damn right they won't." He replied, turning on his heel and striding out of the library, leaving the smaller boy behind him.
