Chapter 1 - 1. The Fall Of The Gods

"Go get some eggs for breakfast." someone yelled out from the cottage.

"Got it." a little servant boy yelled in response.

Dante sighed as he grabbed a basket. Fetching the eggs was one of his least favorite chores. The chickens were always aggressive at this time of day.

'It looks like it's going to be cloudy today.' Dante thought as he looked at the sky.

Dante was from a slave family. His mother was a slave, and so was her mother before her. Servitude was the only thing he had known.

It was only after his current master bought him that he learned how vast the world truly was.

This was a world where all kinds of mythical abilities existed. From magic to bloodlines, there were plenty of paths people followed to gain power.

His master seemed to follow the path of a warrior. He used the world's mana to augment his physical abilities.

Although he had received training from his master, he had no idea how his power scaled in the real world.

As Dante approached the chicken coop, he noticed that the sky got increasingly dark. The way it darkened was very unnatural.

"Master!" Dante called out in a panic.

"What is it, boy?!" Dante's master shouted in return.

"The sky's changing!" Dante said

"Changing?" His master became curious and decided to entertain his servant.

His expression quickly changed however as he sensed the situation outside.

"This... This is the sign of a God's Fall."

Dante turned to his master in shock. It was common knowledge that there were Gods in this world. In fact, there were a plethora of pantheons.

Dante had never heard of a God even dying. This thought would never even cross a person's mind. To the people of this world, the Gods were eternal.

Dante couldn't even comprehend the death of a God, much less the consequences that would come from it.

Dante's master on the other hand took on a solemn face. "Go pack your things. We're leaving."

"Now?" Dante asked as he struggled to process what he just heard.

"Yes now. The world is going to get chaotic for a while. We need a place where we can hi-"

Just as Dante's master was speaking, a wave of mana suddenly flooded the world around them. Dante even felt himself rapidly gaining mana.

"What's going on?" Dante asked in surprise of his newfound strength. As Dante turned to look at his master, he saw the sight of his master levitating over him. His master had even lost all signs of old age and looked to be in his early twenties.

"This... is my old strength. Dagon has fallen." Dante's master said.

"Dagon? The God of Seals?" Dante asked.

Dagon was part of the Synthia Pantheon, one of the oldest pantheons in this world. His power had allowed mortals to seal away anything they couldn't kill, allowing humans to thrive in peace.

"He is not the only one. We need to leave soon."

Dante couldn't understand why his master was in a rush, but he listened and went into the house to pack.

As Dante packed, he felt waves of mana frequently pass over him along with a rapid increase of his strength.

Dante didn't understand what was going on, but he believed in his master.

Dante quickly finished up and met up with his master outside.

"You finished up?"

Dante sighed as he looked around. There was nothing left for him here anyways. He turned to look at the sky once more. It had stopped darkening, but the darkness had spread widely.

Dante had no idea what was in store for the future.

...

"The Gods have fallen."A old king said as he sat on a throne. The ministers and nobles around him watched as the king rapidly lost his wrinkles. Everyones thoughts were a mess as they watched this happen.

"The seal on the Lamashtu tribe has weakened." The king announced.

Everyone in the room seemed to have a reaction to these words.

The Lamashtu tribe was a tribe banished by the Gods over a thousand years ago. They weren't banished for any crimes but for their potential. They rapidly absorbed resources and bred rapidly.

Simply put, they were like locusts in human form.

"We need to make sure that they have no chance to rise at all." The king said to his subjects.

"Yes, Your Majesty." The subjects said in unison. Nobody knew how many of them actually agreed.

The king knew this too, but he was aware that there was no way to change their thoughts right now. No one knew how the fall of the Gods would affect the world in the future, but its current effects were already devastating enough.
