The next morning, Laemno felt more refreshed than he had ever been since his arrival in this world.
He jumped out of his covers and found The Wayfarer waiting for him, slumped against a nearby boulder.
"You took your time. The sun rose two hours ago."
"If the nagging is optional, I would like to sign out of it for the duration of our trip," retorted Laemno.
"Quite the sharp tongue. Let's move. We need to go before the area starts festering."
"Why is that an issue?"
The Wayfarer gave him a weird look—a mixture of bemusement and disbelief. "Are you not aware of your effect on your surroundings?"
"Not particularly." Laemno gauged his words, unwilling to speak of his magecraft more than necessary. "I know that my presence affects mystical creatures somehow."
