Meilyr quickly returned to the Warden's office, skipping through a huddled row to Aquila's desk.
"It's done," he said to the hunched magus. "I'd appreciate a warning next time. I know that it's no special procedure, nor was it intended as a favor."
Aquila adjusted his hat as he answered with a smile, "Apologies for that, Meilyr. It was an order from the Chief Syndic. I'm sure you can understand the reason for such measures, especially regarding you two."
"I do, and that's why I went along with it. Still, it left a bad taste in my mouth."
"I'm saddened to hear that." He ignored the waiting participant in front of him, handing an envelope to Meilyr. "With that, your registration is now complete. You'll find information about the next steps in there."
Meilyr took the furled papyrus from the Warden's hand, sensing a thin layer of Mana on its surface. It was probably coated with a protective spell.
