After a few days of waiting, Shadow finally received a message from the TechCore Industries. They agreed to meet him in person to discuss the terms of their partnership.
Shadow arrived at the designated location, a private conference room in a luxurious hotel. He was surprised to see that TechCore's CEO, a man known for his reclusive nature, was the one who showed up.
"Mr. Shadow," the CEO said, extending his hand for a handshake. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
"The pleasure is mine," Shadow replied, shaking his hand. "Shall we get down to business?"
"Of course," the CEO said, gesturing for Shadow to take a seat. "Let's talk about Project: Phoenix."
Shadow nodded, and they began discussing the details of the project. TechCore was interested in using Shadow's expertise to help them complete the project, which involved creating advanced weapons and technology for the military.
As they talked, Shadow couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he sensed that TechCore was hiding something.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen and saw that it was a message from Nia.
"Shadow, be careful. I just got word that TechCore is planning something sinister."
Shadow's heart raced. He excused himself from the meeting, claiming he needed to use the restroom. As soon as he was alone, he dialed Nia's number.
"Nia, what's going on?" he asked urgently.
"Shadow, I hacked into TechCore's database and found out that they're planning to double-cross you," Nia said. "They want to use your knowledge to complete Project: Phoenix, but they have no intention of sharing the profits with you."
Shadow's blood boiled with anger. "I won't let them get away with this," he said. "Thanks for the warning, Nia. I owe you one."
Shadow took a deep breath and composed himself. He returned to the conference room, determined to confront TechCore.
"I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I can't work with you," Shadow said, staring the CEO straight in the eye. "I've heard enough to know that you're not to be trusted."
The CEO's face remained impassive. "I see," he said. "It's a shame we couldn't come to an agreement."
Shadow stood up and made to leave. As he walked towards the door, he heard a loud click. He turned around and saw that the CEO had pulled out a gun and was pointing it at him.
"I'm afraid I can't let you leave," the CEO said coldly. "You know too much."
Shadow tensed, ready to spring into action. It was a dangerous game they were playing, but he was ready to fight to survive.
