As Kyle lay on the ground, embroiled in pain, his heart was filled with a sense of helplessness and anguish that was far more intense than the pain of his stab wound.
In comparison with the bleeding hole in his stomach, the feeling of being abandoned and betrayed was much more excruciatingly painful.
While clutching his stomach, Kyle knelt on the floor that was soaked in his blood. He kept his gaze on the door that was shut close.
He also wanted to run but he was unable to lift himself up from the ground because he was stabbed very deeply.
However, Kyle kept hoping that other members his group would continue to run farther away from his position in order to escape the looming danger.
Instead they would return to help him but the cruel reality quickly dawned upon him when he heard the painful screaming voice of the instructor. After a few seconds, the room went silent but Kyle could still sense the ominous aura in the air.
It wasn't surprising to Kyle that the rest of his team would easily desert him. Since he was the trash of the group, they used him as bait to buy themselves some time to escape.
Frankly, Kyle didn't want to die, at least not yet. There was still so much that he had yet to accomplish in his life.
To die in such a way was a complete waste of his past efforts to change his miserable life.
After dragging his body to the door of the boss room, Kyle rested his back against it.
The wolf's shadow slowly covered his figure as it slowly walked towards him as it continuously snarled its teeth at him.
Kyle could already tell that danger had finally caught up with him. He managed to pull out his dagger and throw it at the monster while targeting its brain.
When he saw that the monster easily dodged the dagger, he scoffed disdainfully. Although it was pointless Kyle still put all the energy he had into that attack hoping he might catch the monster off guard and manage to kill it.
The wolf grunted angrily at Kyle and continued to approach him slowly. It was as if the monster was telling Kyle that he was insignificant and it didn't need to stress itself before it could kill him.
Kyle knew that there was no way he could escape and it was the end of the road for him.
In that split second, he thought back about his life and he could only curse his terrible bad luck.
"How could a monster like this be present in the training dungeon for E-rank trainees?" Kyle muttered as he was baffled by the monster's level of ferocity.
As they were supposed to be able to clear this rank E dungeon easily, however, the boss of the dungeon was a monster even stronger than their instructor who was a D-rank awakener.
Kyle's eyes instantly widened in shock when he suddenly realized why the situation had turned out to be so disastrous.
He dipped his blood stained hands into his pocket and brought the red mana crystal he picked up from the altar.
He was surprised to see that the crystal was glowing brightly as he held it in his palm.
Kyle looked up at the monster and saw that its attention was on the crystals that he was holding.
While he was beginning to lose consciousness, Kyle said in a trembling voice, "I guess I'm right, it's because of this crystal you resurrected and became more powerful."
The wolf grunted in response and kept its gaze on the crystals Kyle was holding.
"Well, that's too bad because you're not going to get it from me." Kyle smirked and smashed the crystal on the ground. As soon as the crystal broke into pieces a tiny red string of floating energy entered his body.
However, Kyle wasn't too bothered about it because he knew that he wasn't going to make it out alive. Therefore, rather than allowing the wolf to reclaim the crystal, he destroyed it.
Besides, he could also feel that his life-force was draining and he would probably die even before the wolf finished him off.
The wolf roared furiously and sprinted towards Kyle at full speed.
"This is finally it..." Kyle silently muttered before falling sideways to the ground.
The moment the wolf launched itself into the air to attack Kyle, a purple barrier suddenly appeared and shielded him from the wolf.
Immediately the wolf collided with the barrier. A strong force pushed it back until the wolf landed heavily on the ground and lost consciousness.
Kyle was surprised by what had just happened to the wolf and the appearance of a purple hologram before his face also caught him off guard.
"What is this? It doesn't even matter since I'm about to die anyway," Kyle thought to himself and accepted it without hesitation. "Yes.."
Kyle who was about to lose consciousness suddenly felt slightly healthier and stronger than he had ever been before.
He slowly got up from the ground and there was no longer any pain in his stomach. Kyle lifted his clothes to check his wound and he was amazed to see that it had healed.
Kyle was still trying to access the situation in his head when another ringing alert sounded inside his head before the hologram popped up again.
- Reward: Complete Access To The System
- Failure: Death
The Hellhound had regained consciousness and it howled loudly in rage after it slowly got back to his feet.
Despite being petrified for a few seconds, Kyle quickly regained his composure. He wouldn't deny the fear he was feeling and at the same time he didn't want to deceive himself any longer by pretending he had accepted his fate.
He didn't want to die in a pathetic manner. He was no longer willing to just lay low like he did in the past especially now that there is a glimmer of hope for him.
At the brink of death, Kyle finally understood that even humans were cruel and they could even be more terrifying when it came to matters such as survival.
Therefore, he realized how stupid he had been for all these years claiming he wanted to be a hunter when he always shivered in front of even the lowest ranking monster.
He didn't even fight back when worthless people like Ryan repeatedly belittled him or attempt to defend his aunt whenever she was humiliated in front of him.
Kyle had resolved to be a monster in order to survive even if it meant giving up on his morals.
As the Hellhound dashed towards him, Kyle pulled out the second dagger from its sheath and with a determined look on his face, Kyle also sprinted towards the monster.
Judging from its previous attacks, Kyle guessed that the Hellhound would jump into the air in order to pounce on him.
Indeed, the Hellhound launched itself into the air just like Kyle had predicted.
With his dagger, he slid across the floor beneath the flying Hellhound and threw it at its neck.
Kyle missed his target but the dagger pierced the side of the monster.
He immediately got back on his feet and ran towards the dead body of the trainee that was killed by the Hellhound while he was being pursued by the monster.
Fortunately, because of the injury the Hellhound sustained from Kyle's dagger, it wasn't able to chase Kyle at full speed as it was slightly limping.
Kyle hurriedly picked up the trainee's weapon which was a long sword. However, as he turned around, the Hellhound caught up with him and pushed him back to the ground.
"Argh!!!" Kyle screamed in agony as the monster instantly dipped its long fangs into his neck.
"You damn creature, I'm sending you back to hell" Kyle roared with conviction as he raised his sword and pushed it through the monster's neck.
AWOOOOOOOOO!!
The Hellhound howled in pain before taking its last breath before falling lifelessly on Kyle's body.
Kyle was exhausted and he was losing too much blood from his bitten neck but he was delighted by the ringing sound in his head and the hologram before him.
These were the last Notification Kyle read before he finally lost consciousness from losing excessive blood.
