Chapter 7 - The Forgotten Memories

Aura and Caecilius returned to the village, relieved that the curse had been lifted. But as they walked through the snow-covered streets, they realized that something was wrong.

People were staring at them, but not with the usual contempt and hatred. Instead, they looked at them with confusion and concern. As they approached their cottage, they noticed that their belongings were packed and ready to go.

"What's going on?" Aura asked, her heart sinking.

"The villagers have decided that they no longer want us here," Caecilius said, his voice heavy with sadness. "Now that the curse is lifted, they have no reason to discriminate against us. But they can't forget what they've done to us, and they don't want us to remind them of their sins."

Aura felt tears welling up in her eyes. She had always known that the villagers were cruel, but she had hoped that they would eventually see her for who she was, not for the curse that the god had placed upon her.

"We can't stay here," Caecilius said, taking her hand. "We have to leave this place and start a new life together."

Aura nodded, knowing that he was right. But as they left their cottage and began their journey, she realized that something was missing.

She couldn't remember Caecilius.

She knew that they had fallen in love, that they had shared intimate moments together, but the details were fuzzy, like a dream that she couldn't quite grasp. She felt a pang of sadness, knowing that she had lost something precious, but she couldn't put her finger on what it was.

As they trudged through the snow, Caecilius tried to jog her memory, telling her stories about their time together, showing her the things they had collected on their journey. But nothing seemed to stick.

Aura felt lost and alone, unsure of who she was or where she belonged. She knew that she loved Caecilius, but it felt like a hollow emotion, lacking the depth and intensity that it once had.

As they reached the edge of the village, Aura looked back at the cottage, her heart heavy with grief. She knew that they were leaving behind a life of pain and suffering, but she couldn't help feeling like she had lost something important.
