Chapter 1 - The Chosen One

This is an age where humans and vampires live together.

More than a hundred years ago, the vampire race attacked the human race to occupy the human race's territory and food. It was a massacre, a bloodbath that took numerous lives.

Because vampires are immortal-like with a long lifespan and strong attack power, the human race suffered a disastrous defeat in this battle. Finally, the human race was forced to reach an agreement with the vampire race.

The vampire race will occupy one-third of the area initially occupied by the human race, and the human race will need to send a female human to the supreme leader of the vampire race every ten years.

And the girl selected every ten years is called the chosen one. She will become the chosen queen of the vampire king.

However, the vampires are not very kind. Each of the chosen ones sent to them will be brutally tortured to death.

Therefore, every family of the human race is unwilling to give their daughters to the vampire race. Even though the human race is helpless, they are still afraid that the vampires will resume the cold-blooded massacre that they presently have no way to prevent, so humans could only pray for their daughters to not be selected as the chosen ones.

Now, the current ruler of the vampire race is Caius Acheron, known as the Vampire King.

What vampires value most is the purity of blood.

Thus it was obvious to all how the vampire king, Caius Acheron, could secure his throne for more than a century. He is cruel and even more bloodthirsty than those previous vampire kings of the vampire race.

He has lived for hundreds of years, but he still maintains a youthful look like that of a man in his early twenties. He was a remarkably handsome man, with his silvery hair styled to perfection and framing the edges of his face like dark satin. His eyes were sharp and slanted upward, which better emphasized his high cheekbones and defined jawline.

Caius has had eighteen wives already, but none of those so-called vampire queens survived until the next morning. Rumor has it that they were all tortured by the vampire king himself and had their blood sucked dry, leaving them shriveled.

In the end, these so-called vampire queens were all placed six feet under. But just before they did so, they were subjected to more inhuman abuses before they were finally buried.

After all, there were few human beings alive in the vampire race, and they were all regarded as "the most precious food."

In another ten years, the human race will once again gift another girl to the vampire king. The girl chosen this time is much, much different from those before. She is a girl who has just turned seven years old.

Unlike those chosen ones before, who were all adults, this present chosen one is just a child.

Venera Valentine looked at the people in front of her with wide eyes. She felt a little confused; she didn't understand what was going on, but she didn't cry or make any noise; she was very quiet and obedient.

"Master Priest, my daughter is still very young; how could she be the chosen one?"

A woman let out a wail to the man in front of her, hands clutching onto his sleeve tightly.

She was desperate.

This crying woman is Venera's mother.

Like the other mothers, she doesn't want her daughter to be the chosen one, but her seven-year-old daughter was destined to be the wife of the vampire king.

It's not like she doesn't know who the vampire king is. With his murderous and diabolical reputation, could her daughter still stay safe and alive after living with that madman?

The priest indifferently shook off the woman's hold on him.

"Madam, please don't embarrass us."

Don't make a scene and don't waste his time.

The priest had a cold face, and so did the words he uttered.

Venera ran over to the two and hugged her mother. "Mom, don't cry."

She still doesn't understand what it means to be the wife of the vampire king. All she knew was that her mother was crying, and so she should comfort her.

She doesn't want to see her mother looking so sad.

Venera's mother, who looked at her caring and obedient daughter, cried out even more sadly.

"My poor daughter, why are you the wife of the vampire king?"

Venera's mother was crying as if she were in mourning after someone's death, which left Venera even more confused.

Vampire Realm

The Vampire King's Castle

The vampire king, Caius Acheron, sat on his throne, wearing a black robe with golden embellishments, looking majestic and dignified. He looked intimidating in his stature alone.

Caius was holding a goblet leisurely, which contained a bright red liquid that sparkled under the dim lighting of the castle. It was blood.

A servant carefully walked into the silent throne room, then walked up to Caius, his footsteps echoing, and bowed his head with a hand crossed on his chest in greeting, which seemed to be some kind of formality when facing a vampire of higher status.

"Has my nineteenth queen been selected?"

Caius didn't seem to care much, and one could feel it from the tone of his voice. This was because, in his opinion, the female humans sent by the human race were nothing more than his food. Thinking about it, it seemed that he hadn't had fresh human blood for a long time.

He licked his lips, and the corners of his lips were raised, showing a lively and wanton smile.

"Your Majesty, your queen has been selected, but..." The servant's words trailed off, and he hesitated to say the rest.

Caius immediately frowned at his actions.

He was annoyed and dissatisfied.

He never liked this kind of person who dawdled in their words and wasted his precious time.

Seeing the obvious frown on Caius' face, the servant's heart rang in alarm, and he hurriedly continued, "Your Majesty, your queen is only a seven-year-old girl."
