The school bell rings, signaling the start of a new school day. Ryota Takahashi trudges towards his classroom, head down, trying to avoid the eyes of his classmates. His long hair is unkempt, and his uniform is rumpled, a sign of his lack of care for himself.
Ryota sits at his desk, isolated from the rest of the class, lost in his own thoughts. He can hear his classmates whispering about him, calling him "weird" and "useless." He knows what they're saying is true, but he can't help it. He's been bullied every day since middle school, and it's taken a toll on him.
One day, after school, Ryota goes to the rooftop of the school, intending to end his life. He gazes down at the height, taking a deep breath, ready to jump. But suddenly, he's interrupted by the voice of Yui Nakamura, a popular girl in his class.
"Hey there, Ryota, what are you doing up here? Do you want to get killed?" Yui says, teasingly.
Ryota is frozen, unsure of what to say or do. He's not used to being talked to by anyone, let alone someone like Yui. But she doesn't stop, and instead, continues to tease him, saying mean things about him and his appearance.
Ryota feels tears prick at the corners of his eyes, but he refuses to cry in front of Yui. He takes a deep breath, inhaling and exhaling slowly, gathering his courage to speak.
"You don't know how it feels to be depressed," Ryota says, his voice shaking. "I have a dream to become a successful pianist, but even in my family, I'm treated as a ghost. Nobody cares about me, and I feel worthless."
Yui's expression softens as she listens to Ryota. She realizes that he's been struggling with depression and feels a pang of sympathy for him.
"I may not know exactly how you feel, Ryota, but I do know what it's like to feel alone and worthless," Yui says. "But you don't have to be alone. I want to help you, and I know that there are people who care about you. You just need to believe that."
Meanwhile, Kento Ishida, a powerful and aggressive bully, is watching from afar, overhearing the conversation between Ryota and Yui. He's been looking for a way to destroy Ryota's life, and this seems like the perfect opportunity.
Sato Nakamura, Ryota's older sister, appears, and the atmosphere suddenly turns tense. Sato has always treated Ryota as a burden and doesn't care if he commits suicide. Kento sees this as an opportunity to manipulate Sato into doing his bidding.
As Ryota and Yui continue to talk, Kento comes up with a plan to destroy Ryota's happiness and ruin his chances of becoming a successful pianist. But little does he know, Yui has a secret feeling for Ryota, and she will do whatever it takes to protect him.
To be continued.
