Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : Prologue

"I'm sorry, sir… Here's my resignation letter."

The girl handed a resignation letter to her boss as she bowed respectfully at him.

"Why, Miss Yoon?"

"It's just… I found that I can't be a better individual in this company and I believe there's someone out there that is a better fit for you. I'm sorry if I disappoint you but I'm grateful that I used to be part of your amazing company."

"But, Miss Yoon… You are the best employee that I have ever had. Please don't leave this company…"

"I'm so sorry, sir but my decision is unanimous. Thank you for everything."

Once again, the girl bowed to her boss before leaving his office. Outside the room, her colleagues have been waiting for her. One of them gave her a bouquet of flowers with tears flowing from her eyes.

"I'm gonna miss you, Myung-Hee."

Myung-Hee smiled as she nodded to the girl then she walked past some employees to her table and packed her things. All of sudden, a blonde girl threw a postcard right in front of Myung-Hee. Myung-Hee took the postcard and there was a sentence written in red ink.

'See you, Loser!'

The person who threw the postcard laughed as she walked away. That person, Na-Eun, is the main reason why she left the company. Na-Eun always envied Myung-Hee for everything that she did and she would never stop to make Myung-Hee's life miserable. Myung-Hee took a deep breath as she brought all of her stuff downstairs.

"Miss Yoon! Where are you going?" asked the security of the building.

"I'm no longer working here. Take care!"

Myung-Hee stepped out of the company building where she had been working for almost three years.

"I, Myung-Hee, will look for a better place and I will achieve it."

Two weeks later.

A footstep of high heels could be heard inside the quiet office room. Everyone was immersed in their work when a long dark haired female walked passed them to the manager's office. She reached to knock on the door.

"Excuse me, sir."

"Come in!"

The girl opened the door and walked inside the manager's office. Inside the office, there's this man in a suit sitting in front of a desk waiting for her. She took out the papers that she brought with her and handed them to the man.

"Miss Yoon, Yoon Myung-Hee. Please take a seat."

"Thank you, sir."

The man took a glance at her and formed a weird smile on his face. He put the documents down on the table as he approached her and caressed her cheek.

"You came here for the personal secretary position, right?"

Yoon Myung-Hee moved to the side as she tries to stay calm and professional. She need this job but she wouldn't tolerate any misbehavior during the interview. Everything needs to be professional however this man is trying to go past the line and she's feeling uncomfortable because of it.

"Yes. As I recall, I applied for the CEO's secretary and I believe it's mentioned in the email that the CEO will interview me. I'm here to give you the required documents and I'm sorry to say this but you're making me uncomfortable."

The manager looked stunned by Myung-Hee's words. He moved backward and stood still but then something unexpected happened. The manager raised his hands in a position that looks like he was about to slap Myung-Hee right on her cheek but then a phone call saved her. The man immediately took the call and he looked at the girl with a disgusted look.

"Yes, sir. I will send her to your office right now."

When the call ended, the manager took Myung-Hee's documents and threw them on the floor.

"The CEO called you. Take those papers and follow me. You're lucky that you're saved but keep this in your mind. You will not be able to make it if you're playing hard to get!"

'What a jerk!'

He stormed off the room followed by Myung-Hee after she collected all the scattered documents on the floor and both of them headed to the CEO's office that's located on the highest floor of the building. As the door of the lift opened, a man greeted her with a smile.

"Mr. Jung! Thank you for taking our extraordinary candidate up here."

"Tch—! Whatever! Do as you wish. I'm leaving!"

The manager pressed the lift button and the door closed, leaving Myung-Hee alone with the man. The aura of this person is very much the opposite of the manager. He seemed like a nice person with a great personality.

"Miss Myung-Hee, right? Welcome to Sempiternal Holdings. I'm Jo Kyung-Min, CEO's temporary secretary."

Yoo Myung-Hee bowed to the man and smiled warmly, "Thank you, Mr. Jo. That's right, my name is Yoo Myung-Hee and I applied for the secretary position."

"The CEO has been waiting for you inside."

Mr. Jo opened the door to the CEO's office and Myung-Hee walked inside.
