Chapter 4 - 4

It's been 5 days. I haven't gained 50 chronus yet, I've gained only 25, twenty-five chronus coins can buy you a nice, warm blanket but im trying to resist the urge to.

I place a broken glass bottle beside me, and i sit down on the cold floor. It's been a few hours but the only things I've gotten are glances full of pity.

"Yo, look at this child." I hear chattering slowly coming towards me.

"He looks pitiful, haha." I look up towards them and see five boys seeming to be in their teens. They wore fancy looking clothes but the boy in the middle wore something sort of fancy and odd, there was a badge stuck to his chest-pocket.

"Tch, look at the child looking this way, have he no shame?" Out of the blue, a large shoe lightly smacked my forehead. I grit my teeth, how annoying.

The boy chuckled, he said, "Watch your eyes, you dare look at the heir to the throne with that filthy body of yours?" As the boy said that the other despicable boys laughed.

The boy in the middle glanced at me, he says, "Enough, this boy has done no wrong."

"But, boss this boy stared at you with that filthy body, he deserves a punishment at most!"

These people are damn annoying. The boy continues to chuckle as his foot lightly taps my forehead, I open my mouth wide and bite his shoe hard. The boy flinches and swiftly pulls his foot away.

"How dare you!" The boy screams as he holds his foot.

I roll my eyes mentally.

"I told you to stop didn't I?" The boy in the middle scoffs at the boy holding his painful foot. "Tch.." The boys turn their backs on me, as they walk away, the boy in the middle looks back at me and gives me a look filled with emotion that i'm quite clueless about.

After that annoying event, it was mostly peaceful. The sky turned dark and the streets became quiet, not without the occasional person walking through.

I gather my items and count my earnings. When suddenly, a hooded figure approaches me. I immediately hide my earnings behind me, I say, "Who are you?"

The hooded figure stays quiet, he grabs something in his pocket. He grips my wrist, my eyes widen at his sudden action and I attempt to pull my hand back.

He forces something in my hands and leaves hurriedly, I stare at the hooded figures back curiously.

I slowly open my palm and see one large chronus coin.

*Ding!*

{ Task completed: Beg on the streets and earn 50 chronus coins. }

{ Obtained Rewards: Body Strengthening Scroll I }

The icon on the upper left beamed red, I tapped on it and inspected my new item.

{ Body Strengthening Scroll I: Strengthens your body to a more capable one, increases all human instincts and senses. }

I look at my surroundings, it's not good to use it here. I stand up and pat myself to rid of any dust and walk towards my alley.

But as I do so, a few people interrupt my way, when I mean people I meant kids, yep. I figured out my age and race, yes I am human but I am a child, I am yet to discover the true age though, I can't wait to discover this bodies backstory maybe it's parents are still alive.

The kids are scuffling, fighting over a piece of bread. I stare at the children, I find another way around and walk away, I am no peace-maker.

___

?? P.O.V

My name is Christopher, I was abandoned long ago by my parents. They left me at the front door of an orphanage, of course they let me in. But due to financial issues the orphanage was shut down.

"It's mine!" The boy I was scuffling with yelled.

"No, I found it first!" I responded, I gripped the bread even harder. We were arguing over a piece of bread.

Yesterday, I was planning to sleep but I heard the bakery-store owner walk out the back-door and throw trash in the garbage can. Thankfully, there was still an intact piece of bread among them.

I was about to eat it due to my extreme hunger but decided against it and kept it for tomorrow. I wanted to eat it now and went to the spot where I hid it, only to find it gone and in the hands of my neighbour, Carl.

And that's why we are here now, fighting. Suddenly I heard footsteps leading towards us, but I fixated my attention towards the bread as I was afraid the second I lose my focus, it'd be gone.

At the corner of my peripheral vision, I could see a boy about our age. He was also wearing old and tattered clothes.

I just hope he wouldn't interfere or try to steal MY bread as well!!
