Chapter 17 - Eldoria

As Rian ventured closer to the outskirts of Eldoria, he couldn't help but notice the change in the atmosphere. Once vibrant and bustling streets now stood desolate and abandoned, their once lively charm replaced by a haunting stillness. The remnants of a once-thriving community were now mere echoes, as the few remaining inhabitants hid themselves away in the shadows.

Before entering the city Rian pulled up his mask. Further concealing his identity and intentions. With a determined step, The sound of his footsteps seemed to echo through the empty streets, alerting any lurking danger to his presence. The buildings that once stood tall and proud were now in a state of decay, their paint peeling and windows shattered. As Rian made his way deeper into the city, he couldn't help but wonder what had caused such a downfall.

The few residents who dared to venture outside eyed him with suspicion and fear. Rian knew that he needed to be cautious; any sudden movements might startle them, and he didn't want to create unnecessary panic. Rian masked his presence further, blending into the shadows. Rian navigated through the dark and narrow alleys, he overheard hushed whispers of the cult that had taken over Eldoria. The cult's name was whispered with dread "The Obsidian Order." They were known for their dark rituals and thirst for power, and it was said that they were responsible for the city's downfall. Not wanting to get catch Rian stops listening and goes behind a near by building.

"System, Give me some information of The Obsidian Order" Rian asked.

The system responded "The Obsidian Order is an ancient and secretive cult that dates back centuries. They are known for their pursuit of dark and forbidden knowledge, seeking artifacts and relics that grant them immense power over the elements and the shadows. Their leader, known as the Shadow Lord, is said to be a master of shadow manipulation and mind control. He uses his abilities to bend others to his will, building a loyal following that carries out the cult's nefarious deeds. Members of The Obsidian Order are highly skilled individuals, trained in the arts of deception, manipulation, and dark magic. They dedicate their lives to mastering the dark arts and unlocking the secrets of the universe that most would deem too dangerous to explore."

"And what's there goal" Rian asked interested.

"Their goal," the system continued, "is to obtain ancient artifacts of great power that are rumored to grant unimaginable abilities. With these artifacts in their possession, they seek to establish dominion over the city of Eldoria and beyond, plunging the world into an era of darkness and tyranny."

Rian felt a chill run down his spine as he absorbed the information about The Obsidian Order. As he retreated to the outskirts of Eldoria to strategize. Finding a secluded spot beneath a towering oak tree, Rian sat down, his brow furrowed in deep concentration. Rian knew that time was of the essence; he couldn't allow The Obsidian Order to succeed. His mind raced with many different plans and bad outcomes. Rian suddenly lost his train of thought when he heard the sound of running footsteps approaching. His senses heightened. He pulls up his mask and hides in the shadows with his hand on his sword ready to spring into action.

The footsteps grew louder until finally, a figure burst into view. It was a young woman, her clothes tattered and her face covered with dirt and a little behind her was a masked man running after her. The masked man pulled out a dagger ready to throw it at the young woman. Before the masked man could throw the dagger, Rian appeared in front of the masked man and uses his fire manipulation on his hands and punches the Masked man in the face burning off the mask revealing a face full of shock. In a spilt second The man grabs the dagger and enchants it with some dark magic and lunges towards Rian. Reacting quickly, Rian avoids the deadly strike. Using the momentum from his dodge, Rian swiftly turned around, his sword drawn and ready.

Rian could feel the dark magic coursing through the dagger, its malevolent power seeking to corrupt and consume. Rian then enchanted his sword with lighting to make it a fair fight. Rian movements were swift and precise, countering all the man attacks with his own.

With a sudden burst of speed, the masked man lunged forward, his eyes burning with intensity as he aimed to strike at Rian. However, Rian had already anticipated his move. Swiftly, Rian sidestepped the attack, evading the man's grasp.

As the man stumbled forward, Rian seized the opportunity. Using the momentum from sidestepping, Rian unleashed a powerful kick, targeting the man's side. The impact was thunderous, causing the man to wince in pain. The force of Rian's kick sent the man sprawling to the ground, gasping for breath. Rian stood over the fallen man placing his sword to the man neck.

"Why were you chasing that young woman?" Rian demanded, his voice firm and unwavering. The man's eyes darted around, panic evident in his gaze. He struggled to speak, his throat constricted under the pressure of Rian's sword. After a few moments of tense silence, he managed to rasp out a response. "She... she's..... seen the..... unseen"

Rian's grip on his sword tightened as he processed the man's words. "Seen the unseen? What do you mean?" he pressed, his eyes narrowing in suspicion.

The man's lips curled into a darker smile. "You won't find out from me."

Without warning, The man's body suddenly convulsed, and his form began to disintegrate into a dark mist. Rian instinctively stepped back, his sword cutting through the mist with a hiss. When the mist cleared, the man was nowhere to be found.

Rian lowered his sword, his gaze narrowing. "Coward."

Rian sheaths his sword and turns around to find the woman was still there.

"Seen the unseen" Rian questioned the woman.

The woman took a deep breath, her fingers nervously twisting the edges of her tattered clothing. The woman glanced at Rian with a mixture of fear and curiosity. "I... I don't know how to explain it," she stammered

"But... we don't have much time," urgency laced her words, her voice wavering.

"What's the urgency?" Rian inquired, his gaze fixed on her.

Summoning her resolve, the woman took a deep breath before speaking with determination. "Deep beneath the ground, there's a vast pit. It's where The Obsidian Order holds captive those they've enslaved, waiting to use them for their sinister purposes."

"My name is Rian, and I'll help in any way I can," Rian said, his voice firm and resolute.

"Thank you Rian, I'm Elara" she replied

"Lead the way, Elara," Rian said, motioning for her to take the lead. "Show me where this pit is."

Elara hesitated for a moment, her eyes still reflecting traces of fear, but she took a deep breath and began to guide Rian through the winding streets and alleys of Eldoria.

After what felt like an eternity of weaving through the decrepit streets, Elara led Rian to the entrance of an old and abandoned building. She pulled aside a heavy curtain, revealing a hidden passageway that descended into darkness.

"The pit is below," Elara said, her voice hushed.

Elara led the way, her steps cautious and deliberate. The narrow passage twisted and turned, seemingly leading them deeper into the bowels of the forgotten building. Each step echoed loudly, as if the very walls were alive, whispering secrets that were better left untold.

As they descended further into the depths, the atmosphere grew colder, chilling them to the bone. The walls were covered in layers of grime and decay, the remnants of a forgotten era. With a deep breath, Elara took the first step towards the pit, her footsteps echoing throughout the chamber. Rian followed closely behind with suspicion towards the woman he was following because his instincts where telling him to not trust her.

As they reached the end of the passage.

"Look there at the center, it's him the Leader" Elara said.

"That's the leader of The Obsidian Order?" Rian whispered, his voice laced with a mixture of caution and curiosity.

Elara nodded, her gaze fixed on the cloaked figure. "Yes, that's him. the Almighty Shadow Lord."

"Huh!, Almighty" Rian turned around.

Suddenly, Rian felt a strange sensation, as if a presence was enveloping him. He turned to face Elara, suspicion growing in his eyes. "Elara, what's going on?"

"Rian you will be a torn in our side" Elara said with a smile.

Rian's instincts had been right all along. He had a nagging feeling that something was off about Elara, and now it all made sense. She had led him into a trap, and the realization hit him like a ton of bricks. The air around them seemed to crackle with dark energy, filling the atmosphere with an eerie tension.

As Rian stood there, he could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on him. He knew he had to act quickly if he wanted to survive. Without wasting a second, Rian summoned a blazing inferno, surrounding himself in a protective barrier of flames.

"You think this will stop me?" Elara laughed, her voice filled with arrogance and confidence. With each passing moment, her attacks grew more powerful and even darker. Determined to break Rian's defense, Elara unleashed a powerful kick directly at the fire barrier. The force of Elara's kick was immense, shattering the fire shield into pieces. Rian was sent flying through the air, tumbling helplessly towards the center of the pit. The impact was powerful, and Rian landed with a thud in front of The Shadow Leader.

Rian lay sprawled on the ground, disoriented. The Shadow Leader's presence loomed over him, casting a long, dark shadow. As Rian struggled to regain his senses, a sinister smile twisted across The Shadow Leader's face.

"I brought him, Master" Elara said while dropping down.

The Shadow Leader's gaze shifted from Rian to Elara, his eyes glinting with a mixture of satisfaction and amusement. "Well done, Elara."

Rian slowly pushed himself up, his body aching from the fall. He clenched his fists.

"You know Rian the shadow's never lie, I know you took revenge against King Gulliver and sliced his hand clean off" The Shadow lord smiled.

Rian's eyes widened "How in the world do you know that?" Rian questioned

The Shadow Leader's smile deepened, his eyes dancing with a malevolent glint. "The shadows are my domain, Rian. They reveal secrets that are hidden from the light. And those shadow's know you have great darkness in you Mr. Vigilante"

Rian's heart skipped a beat. The Shadow Leader's words struck a nerve within him. How could this mysterious figure know about the darkness that lurked within him.

"Your secrets are no longer hidden, Rian," the Shadow Leader taunted, his voice dripping with a chilling satisfaction. "You're not as righteous as you'd like to believe. You have darkness within you, just like everyone else."

Rian struggled to his feet, With a newfound resolve, Rian locked eyes with the Shadow Leader, his own gaze unwavering. Rian looks over at Elara and send a powerful gust of wind her way. Elara stumbled back from the sudden gust of wind, her surprise evident on her face. The unexpected attack had disrupted her concentration, allowing Rian a momentary advantage. Seizing the opportunity Rian closes the gap him between her and hits her with a powerful punch to the gut aiming to knock her out. The impact of Rian's punch sent Elara reeling back, gasping for air as she crumbled to the ground, unconscious.

With enhanced strength and agility, Rian hoisted Elara's unconscious form onto his shoulder. Rian then uses Fire Manipulation on his feet to fly out of the pit with great speed. He fly's towards Eldoria and goes to an abandoned building.

In the safety of the abandoned building, Rian gently laid Elara down and ties her up to a chair. Her unconscious form seemed almost peaceful
