As the dust settled, Rein looked out around. The silence deepened, playing with his curiosity.
From a reasonable distance, something cleared out of the dust, producing strange clicking noises that echoed through the air. Following that, a slow stamping noise forced the ground beneath his wooden sole to tremble.
This wasn't something he was aware of, and its appearance was nothing less than frightening, even to someone as strong as himself. Its unique stature along with its undead appearance was probably some kid's nightmare. Luckily, there were no kids to see this thing.
The rising dust covered the sky, altering the sun's light to look yellow instead and trapping everything the light's sun touched in a yellow color pallet—creating the best atmosphere for the creature that now stood in front of him.
"A corpse maiden," he muttered.
