Chapter 38 - Chapter 37: Memories - Part 3

Again everyone was in front of the table, people around watched in surprise while others commented among themselves.

"Did he see a goddess?"

"Then hell… is he a reborn?"

"How lucky..."

They were comments that circulated through that environment and even if it wasn't up to Arthur or Christopher, both could still hear the voices.

Chris had his head down as he looked at the table with a slight smile on his face, while Arthur remained serious and even irritated about it and spoke.

"But you are here, what was the condition you accepted for you to be revived?"

The words came out with a more angry tone and he kept staring at the blonde who kept smiling, questioning, Chris closed his eyes and spoke.

"The condition to be reborn is not to live in an ordinary way anymore... now I have a purpose..."

"And what does that mean? What is this rebirth everyone talks about?"

Arthur's questioning made Christopher open his eyes, the whole environment treated that as a good thing, but the swordsman remained irritable about that behavior.

His thoughts knew that dead people don't come back to life that simple, besides that he was his friend and something could be happening to make this possible, the fact of not knowing made him even more irritated, but soon after, Hans got up and spoke.

"Not a hard thing to explain, boy."

The man placed the heel of his hand under his chin as he let it rest and began to speak.

"Reborn are people who are recognized by the gods for some reason, potential or even suffering. These people are like heralds of the gods here in Toah, legends say that the highest ranks of knights are mostly reborn, they are like people who were reborn to become knights of the gods."

People in the surroundings seemed to agree among themselves while a conversation began, many were happy to hear this news and looked at Christopher with different eyes.

However, Arthur kept looking at the table and clenched his fist looking enraged.

"Don't tattle on me with that gods bullshit, I dont give a shit about that."

His aggressive tone was clear and the conversation stopped immediately with the swordsman's sentence while everyone looked on looking confused.

Hans raised his eyebrows trying to understand, but soon Arthur clicked his tongue and stood up, moving his chair away so that he could stand up while he spoke.

"If they want another little soldier, forget it, if it wasn't for that woman, we wouldn't even be involved in this shit."

With the swordsman's sentence, that conversation started again, but the voices seemed confused and even indignant as they listened.

Hans listened to the lines around him and looked at Arthur a little more seriously to speak.

"You understand that was a gift, don't you, boy? Your friend had died and is only here because of a direct blessing from a god, you should show a little more de-"

"I'm so bored."

The man soon noticed in the swordsman's expression an anger that remained, even with all that, he spoke.

"Let's go, Chris. We have to find Oli and go get the map from that woman's house, they already said thank you, we're going."

He spoke and turned to the door as he walked in large steps, leaving everyone who was there behind, but soon he heard the phrase.

"Unfortunately, where you go, he can't go either, boy."

With the end of the sentence, Arthur's steps also stopped and he turned around slowly.

"What did you say?"

As soon as he looked at the swordsman, Hans widened his eyes and saw as if a frightening aura emanating from Arthur.

Everyone in the room felt a chill down their spines and turned their eyes to the young man who had an angry expression as he looked at Hans.

The presence was as if it overwhelmed everyone in the room, even if it only emanated from one boy.

Arthur didn't even realize it and kept looking at Hans who had silenced himself after that, the environment was completely silent, until calm steps echoed and passed beside Hans.

Before he knew it, he felt a hand touching his shoulder which surprised him, but soon he looked to the side and saw Christopher who had a slight smile on his face as he looked forward.

Soon the blonde's arms lowered and he walked towards Arthur as he said.

"Arth, let's talk outside for a bit."

Slowly he walked and approached his friend who remained staring at Hans with the same expression, Chris opened the door behind Arthur and walked past it while saying.

"Come on Arthur."

And so the blonde withdrew from the cafeteria, leaving behind Arthur who was still staring at the man, but soon he turned around and walked through the door, following Christopher.

After Arthur left the room, Hans would sit at the table a little more scared and bring his hand to his eyes that he still trembled as he thought.

'What happened to those boys?'

Already far from there the two walked past the walls of the white temple, Arthur had his head down still showing a certain irritation as he just followed and clenched his teeth.

They continued walking and passed through the same open field as before, there some people rested and talked while a face remained downcast and thoughtful.

It was Kaila who seemed to still be absorbing everything that had happened, she was a little far from the others as she saw the grass on the ground where she sat, but soon a wind touched her face and she lowered her eyes a little, until she looked in the direction and saw the two young men leaving the temple.

Her eyes seemed to focus on both of them as her mouth opened slightly, still surprised, then she stood up and looked at both of them, still wondering if they were the same two, until they both disappeared from her sight.

Arthur and Chris left the temple, as he left, Arthur saw a village similar to the one he lived in before.

It was similar, but even simpler, the ground where they walked seemed to be made of a simpler and more cut stone, but that served well for the people who passed.

The houses were also smaller and mostly made of wood, but people passed through them easily.

The two proceeded and passed through more and more streets, even if there were clear differences from that place to their old home, the feeling of nostalgia still reminded them and reassured them, until Arthur lowered his head slightly and said.

"Is that why you want to stay?"

Christopher heard the phrase and smiled slightly when he heard his companion speak, noticing that he was calmer and laughed a little.

"Just follow me..."

Arthur noticed that the blonde lowered his head slightly and even though he made a troubled expression, he still followed as they both continued to pass through the village.
