Chapter 49 - CHAPTER 46

ROOOOOOAAARRRRRRR!

A loud roar echoed through the night as the Alpha felt a sense of pain he wasn't expecting.

He felt as if a hot rod was plunged into his neck, sizzling the wound and burning the charred skin in a way that increased the pain he felt.

The sensation he felt as Tristan's fangs went in was akin to a fast acting poisoned blade.

It was a venomous bite.

He grabbed Tristan and threw him off his neck, howling as the boy ripped out the flesh there with his teeth.

Tristan rolled in the ground and pushed himself upward with a flip and stared hatefully at the Alpha.

Malia had already crawled to her feet and dragged herself further away from the front where Tristan and the Alpha were in a tousle.

The Alpha pounced on Tristan who narrowly avoided it and with a greater dexterity than the Alpha, spun and used his sharp claws to claw into the Alpha's back.

The Alpha's vision turned red as he felt his back tearing but he channeled his anger and sharply turned around to reciprocate Tristan's attack by tearing open large wounds on the chest of the smaller boy.

His other hand followed as Tristan panicked to dodge half-successfully as a side of his face was slashed.

He back-paced from the Alpha as he winced in pain from the wound on his face. The Alpha was strong, very so, and it was only his speed that had enabled him to dodge an attack so far.

He licked the blood on his hands, his blood thrumming as he tasted the delicacy that was an Alpha's blood.

The Alpha saw what Tristan did, an action that only served to provoke his anger further.

The two had moved quite a distance from their initial location as they attacked themselves, trying to make a prey out of the other.

Tristan ran while the Alpha followed, keeping up with his speed easily. Unlike the Alpha whose wounds only remained a few scabs except for the one on his neck, Tristan was covered in long and deep wounds that would have killed any human ten times over.

Still his focus didn't decrease.

He didn't have to worry about Malia because he knew Brett and the others also heard her roar so they should have found her by now. He just needed to draw the Alpha as far away from the vicinity of the Hunters as he could.

They left the roads and entered the woods, weaving through trees with practiced ease as the Alpha gained on Tristan.

They were nothing more than blurs at this point, faster than any automobile could ever go but they still pushed faster.

Tristan jumped against a tree and used the shock from the impact to launch himself at the Alpha and punched him across the face only to see how little it fazed him.

He could feel phantom stings all over his body due to the wounds inflicted on him by the Alpha. A wolf's bite was just as poisonous to a vampire as much as a vampire's was to a werewolf, and to a certain extent, even claw wounds too.

They were the perfect poison for the other and with his opponent being an Alpha, it hurt more than it should have.

"You're strong. But not strong enough to beat me. Join my pack and I'll let you live." He said.

"I wonder – what will happen when I suck you dry. I'm itching to find out." His blood-splattered face coupled with his manic grin and glowing eyes painted the perfect picture of his monstrosity. One that didn't lose in anything, except strength, to the beast in front of him.

"What a pity."

Tristan shifted his body a little and the Alpha followed, showing how he had the boy in all his senses not to lose him. Not that he could since the boy was practically covered in blood.

Tristan felt his fangs becoming uncomfortable, itching to taste that intoxicating blood again.

His senses had never been sharper than it was at this moment. He was facing a predator bigger, stronger and greater than him. He couldn't afford the highest slip-up.

Seeing how the boy was looking at him as if he was something to be contended against, the Alpha feeling irked, lunged at Tristan before he had the chance to move and punched him across the face.

He was about to attack again when someone tackled him from behind.

The situation escalated immediately as Derek joined the fray by attacking the Alpha.

ROOOOOOAAARRRRRRR!!!

GRRRRRRROOWWLLLLLL!!!

ROOOOOOAAARRRRRRR!!!

The two of them faced off against the Alpha who both matched and exceeded them with ferocity.

Derek attacked first as he was the one closest to the Alpha by jumping at him with both hands wide open with one stretched back.

Responding to Derek, the Alpha leapt for him, both meeting the other midair before gravity got its rightful hold on them as they started barreling towards the ground with a crash.

Derek gasped for air as he was choked with a vice grip around his neck by the Alpha and raised up. His breathing halted as he was slammed twice against ground in quick succession and was going for the third time charm before he felt the grip loosen.

Tristan had mounted the back of the Alpha and without hesitation, dug his fangs deep into the side of his neck.

The Alpha roared in anger and tried to grab the leeching bloodsucker off his back but Derek prevented him by slashing at both his ankles, bringing him down to his knees.

He held one of the Alpha's hands and dug his claws into the shoulder blades hoping to paralyze it but he, Tristan too, underestimated an Alpha.

The nature of a beast that had climbed to the top of the food chain and hierarchy of its kind wasn't something that could be felled by an omega and a leech.

The Alpha stood up, shocking Derek at the insane regeneration speed before impaling him with his claws and flinging him to the side before punching Tristan.

Already expecting the attack, Tristan removed his fangs from the Alpha's neck and blocked the heavy impacting punch that sent him tumbling back.

The two of them stood up in a parallel line with the Alpha between them, none willing to back down for the same reason – they wanted the Alpha dead.

"Laura Hale… you remember her, right? The girl you stole your spark from?" Derek said in between breaths but not breaking his stare at the Alpha.

The Alpha on his part remained silent before answering in a growl. "You wouldn't understand. Not yet."

His words both confused and enraged Derek that he was about to charge before the Alpha spoke up again

"The Hunters. They are coming."

It was easy to track them if they followed the trail of Tristan's and the Alpha's fight, which as trained Hunters they could do.

Despite the warning, Tristan and Derek still continued staring at the Alpha, showing their desire of not letting him go, not after what he had done. Hunters be damned.

Feeling their intent, the Alpha let out a morbid chuckle but unlike the narrow-minded fools in front of him, he wasn't about to be caught in an encirclement of Hunters. He could already feel them spreading far out, aiming to round them up from all directions.

He picked a direction and ran towards it with the two following him immediately after with no moment lost.

He snarled in annoyance at how the younger boy was able to keep up with him easily. He squinted his eyes at how different the boy felt now compared to before.

The coldness around him increased and apart from the blood he was covered in, his senses which were at the peak of what they could ever be as he was in his animal state was having trouble picking him up.

He felt… stronger?

Tristan rammed into the Alpha's side, making him tumble for a bit but the Alpha didn't falter and increase his speed even more.

He tried a few more times but the Alpha was prepared for those and met him halfway, canceling his momentum.

Tristan was about to attack the Alpha again but the beast cut a sharp corner and gained distance from the vengeful vampire.

Tristan followed behind him but his eyes widened as he realized why the Alpha led him here. Since he had been too focused on him, he didn't sense the Hunter in this direction until it was too late.

The Alpha saw Tristan's slight pause and cut another corner, putting Tristan in an open sight of the Hunter's muzzle and they didn't hesitate to shoot.

He couldn't fully avoid being hit by them so he just dodged as his instincts told, evading the most lethal ones as he neared the Hunters.

Said Hunters were shocked that he still ran towards them despite being shot and before they could raise an alarm, Tristan was already in range and snapped one of the necks around in a 270°, before plunging his hand into the heart of another.

He heard a roar that belonged to Derek, most likely captured, but he didn't go back like before. Having missed the Alpha he made his way back to Malia, hopefully so they could come up with something to see if they could steer the Hunters away from them with ignorance.

Chris Argent looked at Derek who had a few bullet wounds on him and was panting on the ground with a deep scowl on his face.

"I'm about done with this game of ours, Derek. My daughter was attacked, and I guess you know what that means for you and the other beta, right?"

Taking a high voltage stun baton from one of his subordinates, he placed it at the spot between the base of Derek's neck and his shoulders and electrocuted him until he couldn't scream anymore.

"Allison is innocent…unlike you, she has done no wrong to any of your kind."

Derek glared at Chris but the man just electrocuted him again until he started twitching uncontrollably.

"Not only did he attack my Allison, but also an innocent girl, one that has nothing to do with our world. Unwritten rules are called that because it's something more important than the stressed ones because it ought to be common sense." Chris spoke as he stopped torturing Derek. He took a breath before asking.

"Where's the girl?"

Derek huffed and gasp, trembling and twitching from the torture he received but still answered Chris. "She's fine. I got there before he could harm her." He lied.

He'd seen the girl being taken away by some werewolves, probably her pack members, which he deduced was why the boy went berserk and went after the Alpha. He just didn't want a peaceful pack like theirs to be dragged into his family's mess.

"Luckily for you, she's still alive. But I'm still unsure how long your luck will keep you alive. Simple: tell me who the Alpha and betas are and I'll let you go." Derek scoffed at Chris' proposal but the man just kept staring.

Seeing as how Derek was refusing to cooperate, Chris shrugged. "To be honest, I was hoping you'd refuse."
