Chapter 1 - A Time of Introductions

The dark of the room would be something of fear for those mortals. For me, however, it was nothing more than a boring, lifeless, and empty place. The blackstone walls that creaked and rumbled with the passing of days, if you could call them that, was the only sound besides wind I could even attempt to enjoy.

"When will it end.." I grumbled to no one in particular. The speechless void gave no response.

Suddenly, a beam of light entered my so-called 'royal chamber' from the sky. Looking up at it, I had only one thought.

'Maybe this will rid me of this boring place.'

A grin plastered itself on my face as I stood up tall and made my way to the beacon of pure light.

"Let's see who has fallen so low as to seek aid from my kind." I smiled even wider as I stepped in, my body vanishing without a single trace of me left behind.

Dripping down onto the cobblestone floor was the blood of a tanned woman with long black hair. Her brown eyes couldn't help but stare at the cube floating in the center of a circle. A circle made of her blood.

"Please, come to me and help me lead this place.." Her soft, sweet voice rang out. She didn't expect an answer, but expectations are made to be unpredictable.

"Lead?" A deep voice rang from the cube as it expanded into something similar to a doorway. "You ask for help in order to 'lead,' do you?"

A leg came out of the doorway. The black boots of the entity being the darkest she's ever seen as the figure stepped out of the gate with his hands behind his back.

"Y-you..are..a demon?" The girls voice was shaking. She shot upright and clutched her bleeding palm to her chest, aiming to stop the bleeding.

"I am Yener, son of Detza, and I happen to be a Demon Lord." Yener spoke with a smirk plastered on his face. His dark crimson eyes seeming to gaze into the woman's soul.

The female took a sharp breath and looked him up and down.

'A Demon Lord? He must have experience, then.' She thought to herself.

"My name is Asami, and I hope you're willing to teach me and help me rule my people, Lord Yener." She held out her hand, which had been bleeding previously, with her palm facing upwards.

Yener lifted his foot to take a step, when suddenly he was already in front of Asami, holding her hand and having kissed her bloodied palm while maintaining eye contact with her.

"I will aid you in your endeavors and trials, my dear Asami, but once you start on this path, I won't let you pick any other." He almost whispered the words, but Asami felt them shake her to her core.

It was almost like a confession, more so a command.

'Why does it feel like..he's claiming me?' She went wide-eyed as her cheeks flushed in red. However, she knew she couldn't successfully build her power on her own.

"I..I accept this path, Lord Yener. I will not falter or double cross you." Asami spoke nervously, but she couldn't help feeling a bit excited.

Yener chuckled and fixed his posture, standing up straight and releasing her hand.

"Show me your kingdom, Asami. I need to see where to begin, after all." Yener went to the only door in the room and opened it for Asami, letting the light seep into the previously dim room.

"R-right..follow me." Asami cleared her throat and started to walk out of the room, while Yener silently followed behind her to see the area.
