Geleb's gaze turned unfocused as he stared off into space, seemingly remembering some distant memory.
"If one of them touches their skin on yours, you'll be a statue of bone in seconds. Then they hit a certain point on your person, and just like that, you're gone. Dust to feed the monster." He pulled the broken remains of his pen out of his pocket, gripping it tightly with one hand. "As my father learned the hard way."
"So they're the strongest of the cursed beings?" Morne asked. That ability sounded extremely powerful. How could the others match up to something like that?
"No," Geleb shook his head. "If anything, they're the weakest. They can be dealt with simply by covering every inch of your skin and outnumbering them. Their endurance isn't much use when they're facing thirty men armed with swords.
