The battle had been an utter disaster after the second wave of Runners appeared.
End had brought three hundred men to the village. Of that number, 250 had been elves in light armor and 50 had been his elite knights.
Less than half now remained.
Only 107 light-armored elves still stood, and while the knights had done considerably better, having only lost 32 of their number, that was still a major blow considering the smaller pool of knights they had to begin with.
End noted the Dryad standing amongst the survivors, continuing to scan the region.
An oppressive silence seemed to hang over everything. The elves knew how horribly they had done. How could they not, when the corpses of their friends and family lay at their feet?
