Essenla, with a very tired-looking expression on her face, once again explained to a group of powerful non-humans how human magic worked, what species Essenla and Morne were, and her strengths relative to goblins.
"I don't know if you elves use the same naming sense we do for the Mage ranks, but I think we all know what the number of mushrooms on a goblin's head means," she told them.
The Dryads glanced at each other, various emotions passing between them, before one of the triplets spoke.
"How can we know that you… 'humans' really have Towers?" she asked doubtfully. "For centuries, it has been nature's rule that only Dryads can have them. We are the only living things to be granted this gift of the Mother Tree; not even our men are so blessed."
"A flickering candle," Essenla said in response, a flame appearing between her fingers. With a flick of her wrist, the flame extinguished.
