The next morning I woke to find that Mina was gone. My first instinct was to look for her but Josento came in and started talking, "You and Mina looked comfy earlier when I came to see if you were awake. She ran out about ten minutes ago and her face was extremely red. Yukiko wanted to discuss strategy for the mission later tonight.".
Getting out of bed I was a little embarrassed that he saw us like that. I left my room and knocked on Yukiko's door and told her to meet me in the lounge. Twenty minutes had passed before she entered the lounge area. Going over our roles in this mission she said, "Rokuza you will stick to the darker areas. I on the other hand after identifying at least two of the dealers will change into one of them and follow them back to their meeting spot. If anything goes wrong I'm counting on you to protect me.".
I said, "Will do. I will take the drugs from anyone who purchases them.".
After confirming our roles we decided to meet around seven near the slums. Given that guards are usually nowhere near the slums I will be wearing my helmet to protect my identity. Exiting the lounge I ran into Mina who just said, "Morning.".
She said, morning and just scurried by me. Seeing the cute reaction made me chuckle a little. I turned and went out of the barracks heading for Saikeya's classroom to tell him to leave the killing to me. Walking in I noticed Gerard was talking to Saikeya. Gerard told him, "Keep up the good work! Most of the knights are learning math, reading, and writing pretty fast. Now I will take my leave.".
Walking towards the door he passed me and just nodded. Walking up to Saikeya I got into a serious mindset. I said, "Saikeya, let me do the killing from now on unless it is absolutely necessary that someone else needs to step into the role.".
He studied my eyes and watched me for a while before he acknowledged my seriousness and said, "If that is what you wish.".
He made a saddened face as I walked out of the room and back to the barracks. The next two hours I spent them at the training grounds practicing my swings. Mina appeared next to me. Well it seemed like she did. She was still avoiding eye contact and said, "Sorry about earlier. I was embarrassed that someone might have seen us.".
I told her, "Josento was the only one who saw us but he won't say anything. Isn't it fine if they see us.".
She said, "If you're okay with it, so am I.".
She looked extremely happy as she trotted off. Spending a few minutes to get back into serious mode I swung my sword for a couple more hours. Yukiko showed up around six thirty and told me to grab my stuff. Rushing back to the barracks I put on my cloak and mask and hid my sword in the cloak. Sprinting off I ran towards the slums. I waited in a dark alley until Yukiko passed by. She noticed me and gave me a nod as she continued down the street.
Following closely in the alleys I noticed her stopping to talk to the slums residence. She only talked to the ones who were half out of it and wobbling around. One of them pointed to a tall figure wearing a dark cloak selling little containers to people. Some of them even looked like nobles. There were a few people on the ground shaking violently and some of them weren't moving. As she was talking I decided to take a quick look around the area to see exactly how many people were being affected by the drugs.
Running through the streets there were thousands of people in the same state as the ones near Yukiko's position. Returning to an alley closer to the dealer. She finished her conversation and closed in on the dealer. Luring him into the alley I was in. Closing in behind him I pulled his hood down so Yukiko could take a look at his face. Giving her a quick look I quickly slit his throat and quickly transported his body away from our position.
I handed the pouch of gold to her when I returned. Putting up her hood she walked into the street and continued walking. Following her I kept watch over the surrounding area. Yukiko started walking a little faster. Looking ahead of her I noticed a man wearing similar clothes. She got closer to the second dealer. He noticed her and motioned toward the alley to his right. Following him she was led to a location further away where four people were already waiting. The tallest among them stepped forward and demanded, "Hand over your gold pouches.".
Yukiko was the last to hand hers over. He checked each of the pouches. One by one he poured them out. The contents included at least thirty gold pieces with the excess drugs that were left over. When he poured out the pouch Yukiko had handed him there were no excess drugs and only ten gold inside. He pulled out a dagger and demanded, "Where is the rest of it?".
She was in a tough spot. I didn't know the excess was stored inside the money pouch. I ran to where I left the body and searched his pockets as fast as possible. Finding the drugs I hurried back to Yukiko. Arriving back in the alley I noticed that the dealers were a lot closer to her than when I left. All of them had weapons pointed at her and rushing her. Guess I can't outrun time yet. I made a split second decision and cut all five of their heads off. When I stopped running my hand was still vibrating creating a chilling melody.
I walked over to Yukiko asking, "Are you alright?".
Nodding, she answered, "I'm good. Why did they stop moving?".
I walked over to each of their bodies and nudged them one by one as their heads fell off. Deciding to split up on the way back to the barracks I quickly ran back and hid my cloak and mask. Getting my journal out I wrote down that I had killed six more people. Feeling worse than my first kill I just passed out. I could report to Saikeya in the morning.
