As Amri waited at the train station for her wife and children to arrive, she felt a sense of peace.
The case against the ISB was still ongoing. Amri had scored an unexpected win when, after she threatened to resign, Secretary-General Shan Xiaoli finally threw her hat into the ring. While the hardliners demonstrated they would never be pleased, Xiaoli's speech before the assembly reminded them that the goal for the Ascendant program was universal, and she'd been able to sway many Council members who had been on the fence, allowing the proceedings to progress.
With the Interstice on its way, however, it would likely be next year before Amri was free to resume her duties as Director. The Center, meanwhile, was given an early winter break and every student and staff member received a ticket to the Finals.
