The grinning girl who leaped to the top of the hill in a single bound drew Makya's gaze as she watched her land.
Makya grimaced as Rui disappeared into the mass of bodies vying for the top. What happened next, however, was beyond Makya's expectations.
A massive roar shook her very bones as the space in the middle of the melee filled with light. Fighters were cast aside as an explosion of ether unlike anything Makya had ever seen filled her vision.
As it cleared, she beheld Rui, no longer garbed in just etheric boots, which were already a hint as to the power she commanded. Instead, she now had her arms clad in armor as well. Makya remembered the cage the Usonan military had put her in, the manifested etheric shields that made her uneasy just to go near them.
