The base gym was a massive affair compared to the improvised facilities of the outposts Rui was used to.
For her, that meant plenty of punching bags as she tried to modulate her punches along with her anger.
The fact she was on her fourth bag of the night, the other three having broken open as her anger waxed to full, showed she was not quite ready to be calm about her teacher being forced to retire.
As soon as she'd gotten back to base, Rui hadn't been able to keep still long enough to pen a letter of resignation. Running to the gym had helped clear her head a bit, but she was still angry at what had happened. She knew Zai well enough to know her teacher would make peace with the facts, but participating in the tournament, as Xu and Zai had discussed with her before the court-martial, felt wrong if Zai was still going to be kicked to the curb.
