Kota - Sendan Border
Zai
High in the sky, Zai looked down past the border to the front lines. The streaks of artillery fire were frequent, as was the sense that the Kotans she'd trained were making good headway. In the early morning light, she could see where enemy fire started to converge around positions that likely held Kotan spirit warriors.
She smiled to remember the reaction she got when she arrived.
Many of her once-students thought being trained by an outsider was a mark of shame. In Kotan tradition, peers trained each other. Then when students felt they had reached a plateau, many sought inspiration from animals to advance their arts before joining the next higher group.
