Amri
In the fourth month of her pregnancy, Amri finally worked up the courage to circle back to Zai's status as a soldier. She didn't want to disrupt what she had with Zai, but she found her priorities shifting as the pregnancy became too obvious to ignore, and Zai's deployment grew closer.
It hadn't come to a head before since Zai had too much to focus on when it came to rebuilding her foundation and establishing her qi nexus. There had always seemed to be plenty of time to do something other than worry about the future.
The day Ambassador Kivi Ivisk arrived, time ran out.
Amri remembered Kivi from the end of the civil war. The woman she'd grown into since then looked far too tired for a woman in her mid-twenties. There were bags under her eyes, and a band of premature grey streaking back from a forelock.
